Daniel Goetz will be promoted.
Daniel Goetz will be promoted.
Formality on the distance side. I'm sure the young female is "cheaper to keep her." Since the hc was a throws guy...should be a legitimate search.

Volunteer at Duke for the past 3 years.
Any explanation as to why Pitt would have a job posting since August 2019?
Yeah Mark Rinker was absolute trash at LSU made KD look like Bowerman.
Not even fit to be the Assistant Distance Coach at Baton Rouge High let alone Duke.
Daniel Goetz knows his stuff and has paid some dues. He’ll continue to grow and doing great things within the profession.
What’s the story at Taylor? Seems like a good spot for a small school program. They had a long time coach who had some success. Now it seems to turnover every couple of years.
Anyone know what's going on at Ball State? Who left? Who got promoted?

More importantly, what about the status of the Michigan Tech vacancy? They go to Green Bay for better weather in the fall and Marquette in the spring. They better hurry up, snow could start flying anytime now.
This isn't posted anywhere. There does not seem to be a vacancy.
There's no track coach listed, just a GA. I believe the last HC was a GA prior to getting the job also. Must be nice!
Looking for female distance coach. Old coach left.

Depends how hard you want to work and how little you want to be paid to be a babysitter. Without extensive NCAA experience and a vast network of connections within NCAA administration, you'll never get a head coaching/director job. And without an immaculate resume, no program you want to work with is going to hire you to be the primary event group coach. But if you have too immaculate of a resume, no head coach is going to want to risk hiring a threat to their job. So no matter what, you're more likely to be volunteering or making peanuts to be some kid's stopwatch holder as you "pay your dues" and "network." To ultimately still just be regarded as a babysitter by just about every administrator in the NCAA.
Here's a good example of somebody who has too much pride and a poor perspective.
It won't be impossible for you to find a job in the NCAA, it just depends where. You'd probably struggle at first trying to get bigger schools to notice you, but there are plenty of smaller schools that would be willing to take a chance. Especially if you enter into the D2 or D3 realm. What the poster above is referring to is becoming a Volunteer Coach. Depending on the program you work for, you may be a babysitter or you could have a hand in every aspect. It just depends if you're at a big school or a smaller school. If you're serious about this, being a VA is simply an internship to gain the experience required to be a coach. You can also choose to enter a graduate assistantship, which would pay for your school while getting the same experience you would as a volunteer. Not a bad route for a couple of years.
Notice no where did Ms. Bish say I was wrong. How's Davis treating you Winny? Just kidding, it's all good. Anyway, you bro's know the Duke job doesn't involve any coaching right? It's to hold Rhonda's stopwatch. Again, a fine opportunity for someone looking for an entry level job...but that's it.

Dan Goetz deserves whatever promotion he gets, a dedicated coach that interacts very well with parents as does Rhonda.

This again! If I ever end up at UC Davis for whatever reason I will assume the letsrun gods willed it into existence.
I didn't say you were wrong, that's true. However, you make it sound like there's something wrong with paying your dues. This is not uncommon in most worthwhile professions, but I digress. Honesty is always appreciated here.
I'd say it's a little misleading to say you're simply holding a watch for her. Assistant Coaches typically have a reactive mindset instead of trying to find new avenues to aid the program. Also....psst....ALL coaches hold stopwatches, even the top ones. Our sport is based heavily on timing our athletes.

Truth
Wow.
Not trying to play any male or female card, but as a female coach who applied to this position it just goes to show that women will get hired for entire level positions, but male ADs want male coaches as Head Coaches. And even as a women's only program. And people wonder why women get out of the coaching profession when there is no room to move up the ladder.
And FYI: my coaching experience and credentials do make me qualified for this position, but I will admit he has been coaching longer then I have.

He coached there previously so i'm sure that played into their decision

Well...whatever this person will be doing, it won't be coaching. And I don't think there's anything wrong with paying your dues...so long as you understand you're doing it so that one day, maybe you can break the $50k/year mark to live in a sh!thole, have no personal life, zero stability, no significant other, all for a job that doesn't actually involve much coaching these days, working for people who are indifferent about you so long as you don't bother them...all for a profession that may not exist in 5 years. And if you ever want to escape, you have few transferable skills to a new career. As long as you're cool with all that...there's some upside...right?
Now I digress...how about that University of New England job?
