Made it to 28 days, and caved and bought a six pack of Budweiser. About 4 beers in, I was filled with regret. Tossed the 6th beer away. Fortunately the side effects weren't too bad since the amount of alcohol wasn't that huge, but a big letdown either way. I guess the upside is I'm more motivated than ever to make it through the summer, and this past weekend was a gentle reminder of how much drinking sucks.

You showed control over your impulses after you gave into them. That is something very valuable. Now remember: you don't enjoy it enough to go down that road.

If you are so broke from your habit that you cannot afford food, please swallow your pride and visit a local food pantry. They exist for this very reason, and whether you have used good judgment or bad is irrelevant. Hope this doesn't come across as too judgemental...I am genuinely concerned about you.

You were strong to be able to quit for a month. Try to not be hard on yourself. You're still strong and you can do it.

My streak is still alive, too!
I gave up drinking for 3 months and my life got worse. Sacked from job for "lack of vitality". Mrs left me cos, "I got boring". My kids said, "I used to be fun".
The reality is for most heavy drinkers the negatives that come with the demon are offset by the positives.
Contrary to popular narratives alcohol saves more peoples lives every year than sobriety.
