No, it's that you misinterpret your own religious arguments.
Take your favorite topic - homosexuality. It's often thought the Bible says it's sinful as "You shall not lie with a male as with a woman; it is an abomination."
However, in the original Hebrew language the Bible was written in, it's more accurately translated as "lie with a male in the bed of a woman" (i.e. a marriage bed), meaning it's an abomination for a man to be adulterous with a man, not a rejection of homosexuality entirely.
It's subtle translation errors like this, that change the argument entirely.
A more logical person would argue that Jewish and Christian behavior over the last few thousands years were more indicative of what they text meant than your 21st century opinion.
If your argument had any validity to it at all homosexuality would have been accepted in the early days. It was not.
The Old Testament in Hebrew says "Thou shalt not lie with mankind, as with womankind; it is detestable."
That seems pretty straight forward.
Not just behavior over the last few thousand years but biblical exegesis over time especially close to the time the Bible was supposedly codified would suggest that the adult is correct here.
Nevertheless interpretations change which would suggest that "this again" has valid points. Isn't this how and why religions evolve?
I have to say that there is not great joy to a reader of Letsrun than to click on a thread and learn that Adult in the Room is sharing his wisdom on biblical Hebrew as it relates to homosexuality in a thread about a school shooting.
If you think the current media is still doing journalism you're kidding yourself.
There was no manifesto in there either it was all gleaned from his social media.
Nowadays they scrub the social media as fast as they can particularly if it doesn't fit the narrative.
You’re right. So much as changed since the Astros won the World Series. Ancient history.
”They” really are in charge. “They” won’t even let you click on that link or let you know that he was a rabid Bernie supporter. “They” won’t let you know any of it.
If you think the media behaves the same way post Trump as it did pre Trump you're delusional.
The media is literally running with the Nashville shooting as if the shooter was the real victim.

And to think that this web site is free!
Your buddy Jeff brought it up.
I only commented because it was so obvious he got is new erroneous opinion off google 10 seconds before he posted...
Right wing america at play. Gun worship above all else.
psychos.
“Missouri last year enacted a measure that made it illegal for local law enforcement to cooperate with federal authorities in many gun investigations."
We can't regulate AR14 because the guys in Powdered wigs said so 225 years ago. And they were much closer to Jesus than we are today. So by extension, we know that Jesus says AR14 are good. Therefore it is my God given right to have this gun regardless of how many innocents get slaughtered.
(thinking...probably had it coming to them anyway because of having godless lib parents).

You know where they got that idea to not cooperate? From the immigration issue. Federal I.C.E. vs. sanctuary City policies.
Well inserting that word over the actual Hebrew words changes the meaning of the text.
Of course, this is why there's multiple versions of every religion. Quibbling over translations.
Personally, I don't think you need ancient books to condemn abortion.
Abortion became an issue for religious conservative evangelicals when they realized that it could score points in politics. Randall Balmer wrote a piece last year ahead of the overturning of Roe on it.
W. A. Criswell was president of the Southern Baptist Convention and in 1973 said, “I have always felt that it was only after a child was born and had a life separate from its mother that it became an individual person, and it has always, therefore, seemed to me that what is best for the mother and for the future should be allowed.”
Carl F. H. Henry, founder of ‘Christianity Today,’ stated that, “a woman’s body is not the domain and property of others.” In 1968, the magazine held a conference among 26 Evangelical leaders who issued a statement on abortion that read, “Whether the performance of an induced abortion is sinful we are not agreed…but about the necessity of it and permissibility for it under certain circumstances we are in accord.”
James Dobson stated that the Bible made no comment on abortion and that it was tenable for a Christian to be believe that, “a developing embryo or fetus was not regarded as a full human being.”
Roe v Wade was decided in 1973 and yet Jerry Falwell didn’t have an anti-abortion sermon until 1978. What also happened in 1978? The midterm elections, and conservative evangelicals were rabid at having lost to evangelical liberal Jimmy Carter. One of their first test cases was in Minnesota for Walter Mondale’s open seat. The newly anti-abortion Republicans won Mondale’s former seat and their new cause had been found.
“…we are not permitted, since murder has been prohibited to us once and for all, even to destroy the foetus in the womb… It makes no difference whether one destroys a life that has already been born or one that is in the process of birth.”
Tertullian said that almost 2,000 years ago.
The notion that being anti-abortion is new to Christianity because of politics is ahistorical and absurd.
It's also dishonest to pretend the abortion discussion in America leading up to 1973 was anything like it is today. Religious groups which allowed for abortion at the time were exclusively speaking about abortion which saved the life of the mother or in some cases rape. The idea that the current abortions of convenience was their intent is absurd.
Fun Fact: The "Jane Roe" from Roe vs Wade was Norma McCorvey. She had 3 kids. Never had an abortion and she was pro life.

Of course. The media got together in a big meeting and said, “this is what we’re going to do. We’re going to report on the background and history of this shooter in order to make people feel sorry.”
When in fact we all know that there is no benefit at all to understanding the background of mass shooters, as we all know there is absolutely no way to identify or stop potential mass shooters. It’s just a reality of life, everywhere in the world. Someone could walk into a school in Wellington or Kobe or Vienna and shoot the place up tomorrow, just as likely as they could in any American city.

Good post Rocky. Share with then the bible scripture about immigration. Let them know how Jesus feels about those Mexicans coming undocumented.

This schizo guy is perfectly willing to argue with you that the guys with powdered wigs over 225 years ago wrote a constitution that includes the right to abort children, the right to cross the border with no papers, the right to same sex marriage, and to do drugs, and every other scum policy he wants. "It's all in there! We are becoming the perfect union the founders anticipated!'

You can't see the switch from journalism to advocacy because you like what they're advocating.
To people who aren't in the cult the difference between the old media and the new media is a stark as the difference between classic Coke and new Coke.
Fun Fact: The "Jane Roe" from Roe vs Wade was Norma McCorvey. She had 3 kids. Never had an abortion and she was pro life.
Fun fact:
"On May 22, 2020, a documentary titled AKA Jane Roe aired on FX, describing McCorvey's life and the financial incentives to change her views on abortion. In an interview conducted for the film shortly before her death, in what she referred to as her "deathbed confession", McCorvey said her anti-abortion activism had been "all an act", which she did because she was paid, stating that she did not care whether a woman got an abortion. "I was the big fish. I think it was a mutual thing. I took their money and they'd put me out in front of the cameras and tell me what to say. That's what I'd say," McCorvey said. "If a young woman wants to have an abortion, that's no skin off my ass. That's why they call it choice," she added."
I don't know what the weather is like where you are, but it's a beautiful day where I am. Why don't you get outside and go for a walk or something instead of wasting yet another day being a keyboard warrior?
No, it's that you misinterpret your own religious arguments.
What difference does that make to you? Do you want to correct the record on religion or something? Why? We're talking about political policies here, legal policies. If you don't think religion should have anything to do with laws, why are you jumping in the religious argument?
One minute you don't want theocracy, and the next minute you act like you actually do, but we need to get it right.
You psychopaths
Because in opposing you, we need to debunk all your arguments. If you claim your religious book says this, when it's contested - then I'll point that out. I don't have to be a believer to do that.
