Also the team above I think can go 37 flat. I think if then all ran PR type races the WR may not be impossible. Lots of top end speed in that race. Bracy can get out well, Kerley is obviously a 9.7 guy, Lyles has the top end of a 9.7 guy even if he doesn’t have the start, and Bromell is sort of that 9.7/9.8 guy depending on conditions. Even though we don’t have Bolt, our 3rd and 4th guys are faster than Jamaica’s 3rd and 4th from their WR which gives us a shot.
Random side note: only 110 mins between mens 100m semis and finals. In Tokyo it was 155. Credit to the Americans for managing it properly but I wonder if they’d be better served closer to 150 minutes in the future
Reading here you would think Teare and Hocker was 2/2 medals instad of 2/2 excuses. Meanwhile Ingebrigtsen is on TV saying he hope to do well enough in semis to make finals. Semis is going to be a nail biter!
Medal ceremony with the flags on the computer screen is just awful. 3 flagpoles, 150 flags and a couple of people to pull the rope, that's all they need.
They don't even have an appropriate flagpole for the United States flag. The 3 permanent flagpoles just outside the northeast gate were removed for installation of temporary bleachers. They took a 15-foot piece of PVC pipe, put a too-small U.S. flag on it, and lashed it to the handrail next to the tower. Way undersized for the stadium. Pathetic; someone in the organizing group should have addressed this.
Josh Kerr celebrating winning a heat like it's a final lmao
Yeah, it him seem like a tool. Maybe he's pumped because its redemption for his olympic heat?
I think he was just celebrating running a race kind of well. His form has been up and down this season so it probably felt like he actually controlled a race for the first time this year. But he needs to ditch those glasses, he looks proper bell end in them. Just get some decent wayfarer's
Eilish McColgan - how can you come to a WCs and perform so far below your PB.
This was her second fastest 10,000, and by a good margin, so it wasn't that bad.
McColgan ran her PB under almost ideal TT conditions. She had pacing lights, and because race was filled with Ethiopians who were racing each other for spots on their WC team, she ended up running by herself for most of the race.
That said, you do have to wonder whether it cost her to go to the front and push the pace. I haven't looked at her splits. Is it possible she went out too fast, and burned herself out?
Got to defend Eilish, I'm a big fan and I was a fan of her mum when I was growing up. She ran 30:34 which would have put her second on the UK all time list if she wasn't already there. She was 15 seconds down on her PB which isn't ideal, but it's also not unusual for a championship race. In the end, she just isn't someone who can pull out a 60-61 second lap when running a mid-30 pace for 9600m. Not many can. That's the difference between the medal winners and the rest. I think she can be pretty content with her performance, not ecstatic, but it's not as if she trundled home in 31+.

Turns out she’s battled an illness and then a hamstring injury. Makes sense because while yes a medal was a long shot with those 4 having gears she doesn’t…she was dropped long before she should
Weird with the shove. It WAS forceful, buy it wasn't enough to cause the other woman to go down. Did she take a dive because she knew been shoved and thought she couldn't finish top 5? Is that enough for a DQ for Sabbatini?
