Robert Young fakes run across America

Since they're deleting and hiding info (now "j h"), is it possible to look for the fake names they're using to hide info by looking at strava segments. Doesn't strava automatically compare parts of your run with parts posted by others to give you a ranking of fastest times over a segment? Look at some segment comparisons to find the fake names?

Just a thought. Like I said, I don't use strava. Only garmin for me.

You guys are doing amazing work on this.

A segment must exist for this to work. I don't believe it will calculate rankings from old runs for a newly created segment.

Yeah would be cool to make a segment for Bannock to Laughlin, for example, and keep an eye on it for any weird accounts showing up. A lot of work though.

Keep an eye on MapMyRun and whatever else too. He's gonna have to be checking how these look before making them public.

But based on a comment reply to me on one of his activities, he is uploading stuff to Strava as private data, then selectively setting them to "public".

Robbie is back from dinner and at it again now. His account has 86 activities compared to 82 moments ago.

Rob's FB page is back to only fanboy/girl comments. I wish I could put the strava data there so that his fans can see the truth but I have been blocked.

Requesting that somebody from LRC put up the data on Rob's page, please.

Incorrect. It does populate the list with previous runs after a segment is created.

We have an entire nation of off meds, depressed, typical LRC basement recluse millennials whose only outlet is doing nothing but follow this thread and make demands people do their work for them and spoon feed them information.

If there's no more thread to follow, these sad sacks will need something to do.

So, unless you have an alternative for them, chill for a bit and let's see what happens. (and don't say they can just go to the rossi thread, that's not a genuine alternative and you know it).

I completely agree. It just irked me that people are saying "look at this mile stretch done in 5:xx or whatever". We just cannot say that without the complete data. There is no knowledge of the amount of time passed between 2 points based on just looking at the Strava splits. The time when he is stopped is completely ignored by Strava for that. Just making sure we put the right analysis out there to be credible.

But yes, I don't care how many breaks you take, the paces he runs are unrealistic.

Just because strava doesn't show it doesn't mean it's not there. The gpx and other data we've been downloading from strava has time stamps so we can calculate moving time ourselves if we want. Strava is just filtering that out for convenience to the user. We like to see our moving time because it makes us feel better about ourselves. Anyway, just saying the elapsed time is in the data that we've been pulling from strava.

Oh, wow, cool. Can't keep up with everything here. The Strava premium download doesn't do that though right, but the other 3rd party site can scrape it? The faux Rob Young Strava accounts - can they upload them as "Races" so we can see the proper timeline?

Looks like Robert Young and his supporters are getting nervous about how close we're hitting to home...haha. Great work guys!

I picked one activity randomly and it shows a 41:XX 10k split. Hardly remarkable for a 68 minute half marathon man. Jaimie's investigation team will find nothing damning about the public Strava data.

Curious to what extent he manipulated these? Clearly there is no HR/cadence which is to be expected, right? Are those purposely stripped do you think, or did he figure out that GPX files would simply not contain that info, instead of TCX or linking to TomTom?

Have a TomTom account, signed up for Strava a couple weeks ago (just for this thread). Current workouts will upload immediately to Strava, if you want to upload previous workouts, you have to download the GPX file and upload it to Strava.

Current workouts say TomTom, older workouts say GPX.

I uploaded 8 months worth of workouts in about 10 minutes, it's not hard if you're not trying to manipulate the data.

Those first two miles are ridiculously fast. It looks like he was riding in the RV the first couple of miles. If this is a legit file and hasn't been doctored.
