Lol this old thread brought back to life.
It’s amazing that so many records have been broken since, maybe someone can compile a list. People are edging up to huge marks too, like SP, LJ, and TJ.
That W100m is safe. 2 women came sort of within sight of the 200m, but not really, that 21.34 is waaaaay down there.
10.49 should be wiped from the books. No woman has yet run a legal 10.49. 10.61 should be the official record, doping suspicions notwithstanding.
Imagine if Dolt had run a 9.46 with a faulty wind gauge, that is the magnitude of 10.49. I still maintain it will never be broken by an XX in my lifetime.
it was not just 21"34 :
it was
1st R: 22"51
Q : 21"76
S: 21"56 (WR)
F: 21"34"(WR)
Ridiculous
All this in a span of 48hrs, she was a machine. The scariest part is that a couple of years before, she still had a day job as a bank clerk.
Barry Bonds was a baseball player. It requires less training than sprinting. So there is not as much time to build muscle I think which is why it was so obvious that he cheated. But for a sprinter to bulk up is not unheard of . look at Usain when he was 15
But baseball players aren't sprinting so there is not as much training required that will build up muscle . It's still possible that FloJo is what she said - a better strength training that helped bulk her up
Hhhh
Lance Armstrong didn't test positive either, did he? It is very naive to think that any top athlete of the 80s and 90s (at least) was not on steroids or similar PEDs.

This is the longest lasting World Record in Women’s Track and Field.
Jarmila Kratochvílová who may have even been a hermaphrodite competing in Womens races.
But if she was a woman, she did PEDs to such an extent that she turned herself into a man.
I'm not quite sure if this is a women.

No honest runner do it.

Well, Usain Bolt used to win by the same margin, and I never heard anyone asking "Was Bolt clean?"
Bolt is one of only nine athletes (along with Valerie Adams, Veronica Campbell-Brown, Jacques Freitag, Yelena Isinbayeva, Jana Pittman, Dani Samuels, David Storl, and Kirani James) to win world championships at the youth, junior, and senior level of an athletic event.
Do you think Flo-Joe is in the same level as Bolt?
Flo-Joe legend was built in the space of 3 month in some year 1988.
I think we can all be reasonably sure she was a doper folks. All the classic signs are on display from the change in her physical appearance through to her rapid improvement in just 1 year not to mention the fact all the known drug cheats that came after her failed to come close to breaking her WR's. It must be so frustrating if you're a top flight female sprinter knowing you can't get close to her WR's.

You haven't been paying much attention recently.
Flo Jo's transition began in the 83-84 indoor season. You really need to look at the progression from there to 88. In addition, why hasn't anybody mentioned the well known, covered up, positive tests from the 88 trials?????
No way Flo Jo was clean. This is not about race or any other b.s. If she was clean so was Ben Johnson.
Not even close to clean.
By mediocrity, you mean a medal in the Olympics?

Flo-Jo was one of the most blatantly obvious extreme doping cases in T&F history.
That would be Usain bolt

Bolt had already been a progidy from his youth years so his rise ws not as sudden as people may believe
No. One of the most doped records. Up there with 47.60.
Flo Jo probably the most doped athlete ever in any sport.
The dirtiest of the dirty Americans.
Read a bit about the men in her life too. Some real clean guys.
Not even a serious question. Died prematurely no doubt relates to steroid abuse.

Bolt won World U20s as a skinny 15yo with poor form running 20.7. He is one of the more believable WR holders.
