14:50 on a road course - the race was called First Night, First Run 5K in SF which started just past midnight on Jan 1st, 1988. No link to the results, but it was published in the April issue of running times. Did that off of 65 mpw.
If you don't believe it - I don't care.

fgfg you are a joker boi.. 16.52 make top 5 of most 5ks...ha ha maybe in slowille or some hick town where you're from.
asshat.
Most of use live in "Hicktown and Slowsville." Shit, we only go into Slowsville for the big 5k. That's my point. In the recent Ottawa 5K first place was one Kevin Sullivan in 1403 and second place 1650something.
I went through the 3-mile mark of a 10K in 14:07. I finished the 10K in 30:08. It was back in 1986 at the Bryan-College Station Straight Shot, and I do have paper confirmation of that. I got my ass handed to me by anybody who was anybody in Texas running back then.
You probably could have gone faster had you gallowalked it…

Hey, good luck Brent! I'm an MU alum and wish you the best. I know Dave has high hopes for you and your team in the Big East this year. Stay smart - all the best.
distance guy
I ran 15:20 once for 3 miles indoors......
I would estimate about 10% of the people that claim they have on this thread actually have.
Oh wait I mean...
I have, as a matter a fact I did it in a training run yesterday. Hasn't everyone?
spring of this year on the track....
1m at 4:37...2m at 9:37...3 m at 14:25...5k at 14:58
I won the race and when the announcer stated, "...and with a new, city, county, state, national, and world record, with a time of... fourteen fif..." at this point the crowd just went ballistic, as I had cracked yet another human milestone....
one small step for me
It will be an interesting first couple years in the big easy. Teammates are starting to train a bit more and hopefully we can return to some of our better days. By the way when did you attend Marquette 'distance guy', and thanks for the encouragement.
14:30.2, Celle Ligure, Italy (1991)
14:32, Sun Angel Classic (1985)
14:45, Heart of the City 5-k (1990)
Several others on the track and a couple more on the road. However, I have no links to any of them, so you'll have to take my word for it.

Hey, Tim. The Arizonatrack board is quite friendly compared to this, eh? Good luck at IU.

Why is it so hard to believe that somewhat fast runners visit this site? Who is more likely to be on letsrun: a 21-minute fitness runner or a 15-minute track fanatic? Maybe the fact that faster guys put in more work has something to do with their increased interest in the sport. Why do so many people come on this thread and think that they need to point out that some people are lying? Well, yeah, a few, but why do you care? The world record is 12:37, and I don't think it's all that crazy to have a group of sub-15 minute runners on the most popular running message board on the Internet.
i totally agree. 15 minutes is not that fast if you're past high school. And most track fanatics are the faster guys on the team.
Well put. I've broken 15:00.00, but not that elusive 14:59.80 barrier yet. But just to further infuriate those certain people I won't post any links.
same, 15 minutes were good isnt overly quick
13:55 in the German Team Athletics Championships at Uerdigen (near Koln) in 1978 for 2nd place. Cant remember who won. It was a surprise because I was supposed to run 800m but the 5000m runner was in car crash earlier. The 1500m guy was not strong enough to step up so I had to do it. I ran 3:38 that season for 1500m so I probably should have run the 5 faster.
I Ran that off 7 years of 50-70MPW.
Glen Grant
14:56 outdoor, 14:39 indoor, would run much faster but going to focus my efforts on the marathon trials.
I played soccer growing up before i started running. In both sports I’ve found that the majority of people that are all about stats and keeping up to date where people that weren’t that good. It's like by them knowing a lot about what’s going on and posting on the sight they are trying to make up for their inabilities to actually do. I don’t think this thread was started because the person thought that a sub 15 was really good but more so because the feel the % of people that post they run that and don’t is high enough to call BS.
I ran 12:30 last night in my dream like the majority of the posters
