IMO, it’s a moot point as the lack of air resistance is easily compensated by the increased sweating due to the same lack of air resistance which has the effect of moving the heat you’re emitting away from your body.
TBT, I used to be a tread non-believer until I trained for a winter half mostly on one and did well.
