Second, retesting won't find anything. USADA tested Galen upwards of 20 times a year and never caught him.

There is that. But using today's methods on the 2011/12 samples might help. Plus going for the CIR test of course, but I doubt they'll risk that.

Fact is that doesn't discount you from the sport. If WADA states that the odds that a reticulocyte count over 2 only would naturally occur in 1 in 10,000 then that hardly seems unusual to me. There are literally a handful of elite athletes in a population of 7 billion.

Of course some elite endurance athletes might have a genetic predisposition to producing red blood cells faster than average plebs, especially when at altitude.

I obviously can’t certainly disagree with your logic but I guess it’s the same logic that goes into why it might not be Steve: why wouldn’t she have mentioned this before or brought it up in the investigation? She’s received plenty of backlash for all of this, why wouldn’t she have pulled out all of the stops even if it meant risking the rest of her career?

There was that massage trainer on the Oregon Project that came forward and said that Alberto tried to make a pass on Kara while he was drunk. It might’ve even been at Daegu, I’ll try to track down the article. That could very easily explain the “coming to a head” and “draining on my family” comments. It would also make sense, for her family’s sake, that she wouldn’t want to have brought that into her case against Alberto and the NOP. She probably didn’t feel comfortable airing that dirty laundry, hence those cryptic quotes.

It was 50 or below before the EPO test came around unless you were able to show your natural HCT was above 50, like Lemond, Jonathan Vaughters, etc.

I'm assuming the 2.0 and 2.6 talked about earlier in the thread is reticulocyte ("baby" red-blood cells) percentage, which is generally around 1.0% in most people if memory serves me right. It will go down considerably after a blood transfusion and will go up when doing EPO or anything that significantly stimulates new red blood cells to form.
