Just like a lot of soccer player could run 14-mid if they exclusively ran

What about take 50 1:50 half milers, train them 6 months for the 400 and see how many run 46.

False. It would take years to get soccer pplayers to run the fastest 160 times of all time. The 161th fastest outdoor 400m is 46.00

Because one outlier example from 30 years ago proves...nothing.

if you're talking soccer players, that is where most of the running talent is world wide.

but without the specific training, you're not going to get much better than 22 for a 200m from many of the greats,and nobody goes past 300m sprinting without the special strength.

garth bale is the one who might be able to run 140 for 800m, that is, with five years of the right training...

You must have meant to state: If Gareth Bale, at age 12 would have devoted himself to 400/800 track & field training, Bale may have been a sub-1:47 800m runner.

No one can go from another sport to T&F in their late twenties to become a sub-1:41 800m man.

When I was in college we had a football player make the Olympic trials in the 100 and 200, only ran 49.2 in the 4x400.

Track and field in the USA gets the leftover scraps from the big sports. This isn’t Jamaica.

As for football and track and ND, a football player had the fastest slip last year in the 4x4 with very limited training in his 2nd year after putting on football weight.

As for the program, Notre Dame only had 1 entry as a program. 1 of 34 events. That is not progress after compiling their most all-americans with the previous coach

Do some you really believe that football players are faster than Coleman, Lyles, or Hollaway? Hollaway would be the best college player with almost no specific training.

Rojo posted this early but almost no one picked up on this. (Instead everyone focuses on the football player angle.) But one reason Mike Holloway is so successful at Florida is that he gets non-400 guys to run the 4x4. Like short sprinter/hurdler Grant Holloway and Olympic triple jump champ Christian Taylor.
