In the video, Brazier looked a bit more relaxed in the neck, shoulders, and arm swing compared to last season. Don't know if it is my imagination, or mostly because the pace of the mile is slower than the pace of the 800, or if it's real. Anyone else see any change in Brazier's running style?

Yes, definitely. Although I do agree, it is in part because he is running a slower pace.

Brazier bulked up quite a bit during the summer of 15. TAMU probably had him in the weight room a lot as a frosh and it seems like it affected his upper body mechanics since. Before his 1:43 I had never noticed it, but he always seemed to have a “forced” upper swing as opposed to the relaxed lower swing distance guys usually have.

Over the past year he’s improved a lot and seems to have slimmed back down a bit as well. This was a major improvement and holds high hopes for the upcoming season.

I'm impressed with Brazier's sub 4 in the mile, not for the time but the way he ran it.

He looked very relaxed and effortless all the way, though was obviously working hard that last quarter.

Personally I think he should focus on the 1500m and take it more seriously, along with continuing the 800m.

He could compete in both of them with good results, and the 1500 would help his 800 as well.

I was finding it difficult on a small screen to see exactly when he was at the 1320y mark. As it turns out, what I thought was the case is true. The film speed is way off, but slow not fast. I used a stopwatch on a larger screen to get 4:15.9 as his guntime (2:08 at the 880y). If the race time was 3:55.9, then that is a factor of 1.08457 over. You can use that to calculate the last lap. (It's about 4 seconds slow per lap.). Back to work.

Fair enough, but doesn't change the fact his last 1/4 was 55.3 not 52.

And if the speed of the film is out, then it's of little use for analysing any kind of splits. Yet another irony on Calculo's part; it is a race on 6 lanes, from a starting line that is nowhere near where standard tracks start, on a track that according to him is now illegal due to being more than 400m, and where the film isn't even running at the correct speed! It basically fails as admissible evidence on practically every count, as laid down by Calculo himself. Hilarious.

The fact he takes over in lane 4 is irrelevant, as it's on a straight, and approx. 50m from the first bend. This clearly isn't a legal 400m track of 116/84 configuration, as you yourself has stated a track must be!?

He gradually moves in towards the line between lane 1 and 2 by the time he reaches the first bend. He runs maybe a foot extra by gradually moving in to the inside lane. He then moves into the outside of lane 1 as he enters the first bend, when the camera then cuts. At this point there is a gap (empty track) inside him and immediately in front. We DO NOT SEE HIM RUN ANY OF THAT BEND, so you are in no position to claim he ran the bend wide, let alone in lane 2.

You then see him from a very distant camera shot and strange angle, for about 5 secs of the 2nd bend. He does not look to be in lane 2 on that bend either. There is no shot of him for the vast majority of that bend. We then see him wide as he approaches the finish line. But again, this is on a straight, so very little extra distance.

You have claimed that all tracks must be 400m, 8 lanes and have a configuration of 116/84m. Well this track is 6 lanes, is 402.336m, and starts and finishes at a line nowhere near where most other tracks are marked. You have no idea what the configuration is, but it certainly isn't 116/84! Using your own criteria as posted on these boards, this is an invalid track for time purposes.

Not only that but it was hand timed and the speed of the film is all wrong. The track is seen to be rolled before the race, there is no water to be seen on the running area, and it clearly isn't sludge.

Yeah ... he's nothing like 20y behind the leader ... more like 10 at the most.

This race bodes well for Texas A&M milers with 3 guys out of the 7 finishers at 4:11 or faster this early in the season!

And the other 4 made up of pros and experienced older post collegians!

I just spoke with Donovan 3 hours ago, in person. He is back here in West Michigan to visit family. He was running indoors doing a workout. He looked effortless. His training is going great. He said that he is doing Millrose games meet, another meet in Boston, and then nationals in Albuquerque. He wants to get the 1,000 meter USA record I think! I have met him a few times and I can guarantee that he is not a head case.

I have too met him a few times while he was in Michigan and seemed to be a very down to earth guy. Very soft spoken kid.

Exactly. He is in town for holidays in Michigan. He was speaking to people who came up to him and he was answering questions. I watched him run in high school a few times and he had not been running many miles ever until his senior year.
