Yale - Pat McGregor (based on what others have said)

Creighton - Eric Harasyn (Currently director of operations at Iowa State, was a sub 4 miler)

UCF - Griff Graves (currently an operations assistant at Florida State. Previously volunteer at App State and ran for Zap Fitness)

Eastern Washington - Paul Limpf (currently assistant distance coach at SUU but ran for Eastern and was a volunteer there)

I second this being a joke. UCF would be a joke themselves to make that hire, theirs far more experienced coaches in the NCAA for that position.

Get a good, ambitious coach to turnaround Central Florida and they won't be "garbage" anymore. I've never been on campus but it's Orlando and it's supposed to be beautiful with trails, etc...no reason they can't be a strong mid-major.

UCF is the largest school in the country. They will be in a power 5 conference before long. They’re not a bunch of slack-jawed yokels running a regional mid-major. They just fired two people with impressive resumes, so hiring the local guy because he deserves a chance is highly unlikely.

When Caryl Smith Gilbert was there they were top 10 NCAAs, and that wasn’t that long ago. There is a lot of potential there

Let me give you kids a history lesson on Creighton's last 20 years of coaches (the era for which they designated a "head XC coach" that wasn't an assistant basketball coach) for some perspective on what matters to them in the hiring process & what they want for that program. In the last two decades, Creighton has had five head coaches. One of those five had previous collegiate coaching experience. The others had been local club coaches with one or two having some previous high school coaching experience. Only one of those five coaches ever went on to got another job in collegiate coaching. The support level has remained relatively consistent in those 20 years. Just over 1 scholarship per gender. No paid assistants. No intent to add track. Used to pay under 30k (and part-time) until late 2000's. Probably still pays in the mid-30's for "at-will" employment. You kids do the algebra there of what they're likely looking for again...

Johnny was doing some foul stuff out there at UCF, who fills those size 12 shoes? A young middle distance coach?

The news I hear from my inside the UCF athletic department is that Jeanette Bolden and Johnny Gray both broke some rules and were let go. Were they UCF rules or NCAA rules? I don't know?

Disappointing news, a family member had signed for 2018. Liked the University regardless, but having had several offers, Johnny Gray had swung it to go to UCF. Financially UCF was not the best offer either.

Typical complaint, but as it explicitly states in the NLI your family member signed with the University, not with the coach.

yeah she's stuck at UCF but she's lucky to not have to put up with johnny gray. better than being at UCF and having to work with him

What happened to the thread about this? Merca gives a link to it in the blog post but looks like it's been taken down. What was wrong with it? Anyone know where the 57 page report is?

UCF will get a coach like Dee Quarles at South Carolina . That is the only person that would offer a job right away. I talked with people close to the ad and all the rumors of Burford Bailey at UT being asked is not true. They said they would not go after a power 5 coach they already knew was making insane money to depart UT. That rumor was cooked up by someone close to Burford Bailey so she could try to up value in New Ad’s eyes.

Isn’t UCF the largest school in the nation? They don’t want to fork of the money they’d pay a TE coach to perhaps the best hurdle coach in the world? Plus when has an assistant jumped over a head coach at a power 5? I’m calling BS UCF is going after the best.

I am ready to roll to Orlando on January 1. Power 5 and mid-major experience . And, they don't have to pay me Buford-Bailey $$. Come on Dr. White, just give me a call. :)
