Sounds like a solid showing for Soratos. Not that 3:57 and 2 seconds out of the win are good but he didn't exactly have a good year last year.

I was only 36 seconds or so off on my Clayton Murphy prediction, to pair it with a similarly bigly miss on Symmonds a few years ago. I still hold out hope that Murphy will drop a lot of time in the future after running more 1500s. He basically lasted 1600 (4:12) and then got a second slower per lap until sticking at 36/35. Well, this sort of time last year didn't hold him back outdoors at the 8. Nice outing for Chelimo, closing in 26. Not bad scalps for Jenkins (Gebremeskel and Lalang (2 sub 13 guys)).
Drew Hunter would have won this race and handed it to Centro-slug.

Murphy is a pure 800/1500 guy with great speed. Which means he will eventually run 1500 times that are better than our current top guys, including Centro. Murphy's two 45+ relay legs say a lot. Centro is great, a superb racer, but he'll never be a consistent sub 3:30 runner. He is a top notch racer obviously, as long as the the races aren't quicker than 3:30 1500 / 3:50 mile. Then he struggles. But championship races are rarely fast, so never count him out when medals are on the line.
Murphy may never win gold, but he has the wheels to hit 1:41 high, 1:42 flat at least along with 3:27-28. None of our other top 1500 guys are capable of that, have the potential for that. I won't compare him with certain runners who are protected because they are from anointed third world countries that are allowed to dope for political reasons that reach far beyond track per se. LOL

Anemia can be associated with malaria. I pointed out on the malaria thread that Paul Tergat, Martin Lel, and Sammy Wanjiru all had "malaria" and were all managed by Federico Rosa. I also pointed out that Dennis Kimetto, the world record holder in the marathon, ran a 2:03:45 marathon 6 weeks after a bout of "malaria".
Wilson Erupe tested positive for EPO and then said the EPO he tested positive for was to treat his malaria. Rita Jeptoo also tested positive for EPO and said she was treating her malaria. She is also coached by Claudio Berardelli and managed Federico Rosa.
Dr. Eufemiano Fuentes of Spain said he was just using EPO and blood transfusions to treat the "anemia" of his athletes.
It is just a coincidence.

Youre posts seem to have no logic.
This is how I see it.
1) Malaria is common in Kenya. I'm not sure what some korean-kenyan testing positive has anything to do with the rosa group. Is it possible groups could have been using EPO for a long time in Kenya? of course it is but that has nothing to do with the case wer are talking about here.
2) The thing you seem to not understand is people will say they had malaria when they simply got sick so it's not necessarily malaria even if it's in the press that way.
3) I've learned from posting this thread as a few people have posted, or emailed me that it is indeed possible that someone was given EPO after they got malaria. So it's possible this guy Erupe didn't mean to cheat.
Instead you've taken this thread back into the 1980s.

And who would even care? 1:42.xx over 800m and Olympic bronze? I'd be happy to go on with a real life after that. As an aside, he's only 21.
I dont know that Murphy's 3000m tells us anything of his potential at 1500/mile. Coe ran 46.6 in his youth (21-22) and his 3000 PR of 7:54 was set at age 30.
His 800 PR was at age 25.
PRs for Symonds 29, Kipketer 27, Juantorena 26, etc.

Call it a world record if you want. DMR is cool because it puts athletes together who never would meet otherwise. Sidney meeting Jenny, Emma, and BMart.
This was a strange team with 2 hurdlers, and Emma running the 1200, not nearly her normal distance.
It was really quite an amazing performance for January. A lot of pressure on Jenny. She ran a smart race (time trial) and she delivered again.
The record is squishy soft as a "world" record. Look up the fastest 2000 meters for women: 3:25.26, or 65.072 seconds per 400 meters. Within that 2000 she must have run a 1200 in about 3:15.2 and a 1600 in about 4:20.3.
Performances like that of Sonia O'Sullivan are worthy of world record celebrity. Not a fake news DMR.
