The wind was .5 BUT it's also only measured for 10 seconds once the athletes enter the straight. There was head wind around the curve as it was a quartering wind. That's much of it. Cooler temps also reduce times slightly and there was a denser air pressure. Retry much the reason all times slower.

Reason for the slow times may be because of super acceleration the finalists had coming out of the starting blocks.. The runners ran through some sort of time warp. Taking them back in time a couple tenths of a second. Think of the star ship enterprise going through a black hole.. kind of the same idea

Can't be the track, a WR was set in the M 400m and the W 100m was historically fast.
Must have been the water or the mild wind. DeGrasse ran 20.01 and had run 19.80 for an NR the day before. Conditions were slow. That race and those times turned back the clock to the '84 Olympics era, when sub-20 was considered God-like.

What? His hurt training affected him only in the final, not the semi final? And his hurt training also affected the rest of the field, who all failed to break 20 despite a few doing it the previous day...?
