No, you don't "understand that keeping the integrity of the sport alive is very important." The integrity of the sport no longer exists. Why should it, when so many so-called "fans" take out their butthurt on those who have the audacity to point out the obvious?
Except that everything that Goucher does and says is suspect because of the way that she does it. Her affect is that of someone who is bitter and vindictive. She is not credible.
You act as if she is some sort of courageous whistle-blower. I'm getting more of a narcissistic attention whore vibe and I want dopers caught just as bad as anybody.
Goucher should have spilled the truth years ago, but she was on the Nike gravy train and above all else loves that moolah. She is no innocent in all this, but I hope that NOP goes down hard for the doping.
I don't think her company cares that she's cussing or being perceived by some as "unprofessional". The link to the interview video that showed up on my Facebook news feed was being promoted by Oiselle.
She is just ridiculous. So happy she didn't qualify. When all of this first came out I was really impressed with her but it became increasingly more and more obvious that it was mostly show. Do the NOP athletes do some questionable things, yes. Do they walk a thin line between what is legal in athletics, most definitely. Do they straight up dope, no. Are they incredibly cooperative with doping authorities, yes. Do they have the most tested athletes in the sport, yes. Has anyone tested positive, no. Do they train ridiculously hard, I don't know depends if you consider 140 miles a week with your easy runs at 5:20 pace hard.

hypothetical scenario:
maybe Galen is completely clean. And he goes on to have an amazing marathoning career. Completely rewrites what we consider to be "successful" american marathoning post shorter/rodgers/etc. era...goes on to win a couple of medals, possibly a gold (remember I'm talking hypothetical). And he does all this in the midst of constant criticism and questioning during what are otherwise happy moments in american distance running (i.e. today's post trial press conference).
And let's say we look back on his career, I'm sure there will be more than a few of us who will regret we didn't at least give him an ounce of benefit of the doubt and enjoy the ride. I, for one, got pretty excited seeing him pull away from the field when I doubted how he would be able to handle the distance. I expect he'll do a lot for the sport (barring something of substance actually coming out of the investigations).
Maybe it's not the worst idea to give him some respect (qualified by the amount of actual data there is to support suspicions about their practices).
Well, it all depends on whether or not she's right, right? I mean, if it's true that the NOP is corrupt and dirty as hell, I say, hell yeah, go Kara!! If she knows some real dastardly stuff that's going on, and if she's relatively innocent, then that probably makes her mad as hell. Why wouldn't she act all offended? If you had been a witness to something you see as wrong and unethical, would you feel like you had to be quiet so some message boarders would see you as a good, modest, quiet, representative of the sport?
Time will tell.
In the meantime, this message board is filled with toe-the-line, status-quo misogynists.

Agreed. Hard to believe that Kara and Adam were clean IF Galen was using.

I would have loved to see the posts if she just said "No comment" to every reported that asker her a question! Probably twice as much whining as is going on now.

This is my problem with Goucher's accusations as well. Is she claiming that Salazar doped everyone but her and her husband? Or does she have first hand knowledge because she is as dirty as she claims Rupp, etc are? Or is she claiming that it all started after she left? The second option is the most logical since I doubt anyone would believe the first and how would she know about doping if she's not there anymore? And if the reason is the 2nd than she has zero integrity just like those she is accusing.
Just for once I'd like someone to show some integrity about cheating although I realize that will never happen.

I asked the USADA reps who were at the USATF Annual Meeting about this topic... I asked if a coach/athlete has been publicly named as being under investigation, would USADA ever say that their investigation has been completed and they were found innocent or whatever?
They said no, because new evidence could always come forward.
I frankly think that is bullshit... most of the stuff is very he said/she said, but Alberto admitted to rubbing a banned substance all over his son and testing to see at what point he failed a test... I want to hear from USADA if that is an ADRV or not.
So now we just sit here speculating endlessly about it...

Except for the fact that she is on record in the past as saying she would no longer be talking about this publicly and would be letting USADA do their job.
So, in the least, she's a liar.
And how could she be on NOP for So Many Years and have been clean, if they were dirty.
--It sounds like she heard and saw something/s (as we know) that turned out to not be what she thought they were or USADA would have brought down the hammer already -- if it's the slam dunk she seems to think it is, and she has all that inside knowledge, it would make a hell of a lot more sense for USADA to have acted before these OT's and make a space open for one more athlete.
She said in the past she'd have no more public statements about all this, and then today she goes off? What happened to her remembering her own proclamation.

Well that didn't take long. I was actually going to post a thread--likely to be deleted by the arbitrary moderating here--to poll whether Rupp was clean or not. If he's clean, I say more power to him (even though I was cheer for others). But if he and AlSal are dirty, then they don't belong in the sport.
That said, sounds like Goucher didn't hold back much there, and maybe this was not the time and place to point fingers.
