How do people get away with this kind of crap (referring to the "Troy" Price)?

I just don't get it. How does a journalist not check this crap? If I am ever interviewed after a race, I am going to make up the most ridiculous personal achievements:

-I won an Olympic Gold Medal in the 15,000 at the Beijing Olympic Games

-I have three wives due to religious reasons.

-I serve as Fitness Director to Michelle Obama

-I interned for Warren Buffet after High School and was paid in BH stock (now worth $27 Billion).

I will consider it a success if any of these make it to print.

Seems like this guy is a regular on the DC race circuit.

I was just looking at the Cherry Blossom 10 results from earlier this year as I needed a note of my time to qualify for another race. I couldn't resist sticking his name in to the search. And there he is....

The guy who has raced and cheated by cutting off the course is the OP focus. He has 5 years of skipping portions of the course where the map shows it crosses itself via a bridge. Splits show up every year in a similar pattern. Also during that distance he misses the same timing mat each time too. The other guy I haven't been paying much attention to and somebody will have to fill you in on him.

I ran the Cherry Blossom 10 miler this year (actually ended up being 9.4ish for everyone due to a course day emergency detour so it was right up Greg Price's alley). There are plenty of opportunities to cut the course as there are out in backs on the course you'd just have to make sure you aren't skipping a timing mat in the process.

To think this guy stole a spot from a Boston Qualifier on an annual basis makes me sick. We need to get him DQed before he gets to run it this year again.

One thing you need to be really careful about Rojo is your wording about the black Greg Price. If you aren't careful and this story takes off you will likely become the next target of Black Lives Matter. This isn't Mike Rossi or some of the other non minority cheaters so you have to tread carefully, that's just the reality of today's society.

'Sometingwong' clicked on the Greg Price - Kennedy/Sampras guy completely by accident while looking for Greg Price - Marine Marathon guy. Kind of bizarre, but I sent the paper an email about GP - Kennedy/Sampras guy and a link to the 1996 Oly Trials results..

Basically, you have GP the Cheater and GP the Liar.

GP Cheater - has missed the same timing mats at MCM (25k and 30k) for the last 4+ years and has recorded unbelievable 5k splits (14:30s) at various points in the race.

GP Liar - played Sampras, "just missed" qualifying for the Olympics in 92 and 96, "pacing partner" for Kennedy in build up to 96 trials, attended Troy University, current CTO at Troy University, now runs Ultras. Not in any Top 10 Lists on TnF News in the 90s. no googleable race results at all. Potentially real name is William Gregory Price, but I can't confirm that.

I am the OP. I clicked on the original MCM Gregory Price simply by accident while looking for another runner I thought ran the race (but did not). I was NOT looking for the "other" Greg Price.

The other Greg Price (Dr. Greg Price) came about via a story that someone posted. How that person got the 2 confused, I don't know.

My original concern was the MCM Gregory Price. It is VERY interesting how the Dr. Greg Price know has questiosn about his claims, too.

This is 100% going to turn into the MCM hates black people. Doesnt matter if he actually cheated or not. I hate everyone that got the Missouri guy fired. Literally no proof of anything racist going on there.

That bio linked earlier is weird too. It says "Dr. Price" but lists only an undergrad and Masters degree and calls him "Mr." I'm in academia, and I know he's staff not faculty, but they would still definitely list the PhD or doctorate and wouldn't mix Dr and Mr. Maybe the bio writer doesn't know what they're doing, but it's a bit fishy.

I didn't realize they were two different people (I didn't see a picture of the first Greg Price).

* per MCM timing results missed mats in: 2005, 2007,

2005 MCM ran 1st half in 1:42:02 missed the 20 Mile mat and finished in 3:17:43 so ran 1:35:41 for second half

2006 MCM hit all mats ran 3:31:06 even splits

1007 MCM ran 1st half 1:50:48, missed 18 Mile mat finished 3:22:46 so ran 1:32:58 2nd half

2008 MCM missed 30k mat ran 3:46:27

2009 MCM missed 30k mat ran 3:34:26 with a 28:00 10k from the 25k to 25k mats

2011 MCM missed 25k 30k mats

2012 MCM missed 15k, 25k, 30k mats from half to 35k ran 13.92k in 48:18 or 5:35 pace

2013, 2014, 2015 MCM missed the 25k and 30k mats

2015 MCM ran 48:44 from half to 35k or 5:38 pace

check the results yourself to verify. what is odd is that the runner consistently can hit all the mats to the half at about 1:43-1:47, then floors it and misses mats, comes in with negative splits

Boston qualifying for 2005 for a 51 year old was 3:35 in 2015 for 61 yr old was 3:55. the runner is well exceeding the qualifying standards and generally would BQ if he ran even splits. Why the negative split and missed mats??

Just odd all around.

times are off because of missed mats and all but not sure you can rule out legit runner here

take away the missed mats and one could picture a runner running a very conservative 1st half maybe pacing a friend, then taking off hard accel and then coasting in on fumes. Not the prettiest way to run a marathon but to each his own. Not saying the missed mats don't offer their own explanation, just saying it seems possible.
