How many pushups can you do right now?

So to max the pushups on the AFPT, I'd need to do 75 pushups (or whatever for my age) in 2 minutes, but I could take as many rest breaks as I needed. I could do 25, rest for a few seconds in the fully extended position, another 25, another break, then 15, break, and then 10, as long as I did it in two minutes or less?

Yes but resting in the front leaning rest or modified front leaning rest is still burning the heck out of your shoulders so its not really rest.I ususually knock out 40. modified front leaning rest (flex the back) for a second and keep knocking them out 10 at a time until I get to 60 then knock out 2-5 at a time thru 80.

If I did them straight thru no stopping no resting in front leaning rest I could knock out around -50-60.

They want to change the pushup event so its 60s no stopping or resting in front leaning rest and hands must be directly under shoulders which is much harder. Army is hard to change tradition so I doubt pt test will change.
