I'm kind of upset that the reporter even asked her about the situation. She's super young and anything she says is going to be viewed very critically.
Oh whatever. If she is going to race as an adult, she can answer questions like an adult.
Cain is in her first true year as a professional. She doesn't have the same connections to other athletes as many of the other runners. She's not going to be as plugged in to the discussion as other athletes.
Either way, I still don't see this as a very relevant question for Mary Cain. Mary Cain may not have even been at the arena when this whole thing was finalized. She wasn't in the race. She didn't file the protest. I doubt she went back to the hotel room and spent hours reading LetsRun and analyzing the women's 3k race video. She had a race in less than 24 hours to worry about. Judging by her performance, she did a good job of focusing on the one thing she could control - her 1500m race. I can't fault her for not giving a different answer to the question she was asked.
