Wow, thanks so much for the lecture, Einstein.
So I guess any 800 runner who's got more of a 'sprint' orientation --i.e., one a whole lot better at 400 than at 1500-- would inevitably be better served by running ridiculously front-loaded races like Alysia does, right?
Hmm, who might be a good example to test this thesis?
Who's a top-grade 800 runner who was much more of a sprinter than most? Much better at 400 than at 15?
Gosh, how about Alberto Juantorena? Far and away the best 400 of any great 800 runner we've seen.
A hell of a lot better a sprinter than Alysia, of course.
I mean, he was the best 400 runner in the world, and she's nowhere close to that, right?
So I guess he'd be running +5 or +6 second splits too, right?
Juantorena's splits in his two world-record 800 efforts?
+0.6, and +1.7.
Last 23 WR races in the men's 800, exactly one has a +4 differential. Only two are even +3. (I'm using men's times since it's a lot easier to find good documentation.)
The large majority are clustered around +1 to +3.
Add 14% or so for the girls, you're sure as hell not going to find anything in line with Alysia's +6 or +7.
Maria Mutola was bigger and stronger than Alysia, and she often went out awfully fast, but she rarely had a differential that even approached what Alysia does every time out.
I think you're full of crap.
As well as being an a**hole.
