You're 20 right?

In the early 80's the drinking age was 18 and it was actually legal in most states to drink and drive. I've personally been pulled over drunk and underage and all the cop did was make me stand in the sleet while they ran my drivers license....they took all my beer except one, so I could have a one for the drive home. There was no such thing as MADD and getting a DWI was basically non-existent. Right or wrong but that's how it was. At the time it was no big deal but fast forward 30 years and we're shitstains.

Things were indeed a bit more - uh - hedonistic in the 70s. Poor behavior was rampant.

I'm amazed at the decent races my team mates and I were able to run, given the decade-long party we were in the midst of.

I will say, I think my PR's would all be faster if we didn't all party like animals.

Sounds like many are drug related. Surprised and not surprised at the same time.

It pains me to recall my brush with death. My survival is about a never say die effort and lots of luck as the odds against my survival were one in 200 million. This was a race into darkness with only one survivor and that was me

1.My skull split open on a fireplace at the age of 5 and lost half the blood in my head

2.Went through the windshield of a car at 22 years old

3.Fell out of a tree onto barbed wire as a kid and got it wrapped around my neck

4.Was admitted into a mental hospital after taking ungodly amounts of hallucinogens and my family was told I would be lucky if I ever came back fully to reality

5.Became addicted to inhalants and was huffing 16 to 30 cans of paint a day for 6 years plus with small intervals of sobriety here and there.

6.Had a seizure from smoking weed laced with PCP

I was born prematurely and was on an incubator for several weeks, my brain had been starved of oxygen and it was thought unlikely I'd make it.

At around 13 I was walking alone along a school corridor and a heavy tile from the ceiling suddenly fell and missed me by inches, crashing just behind me.

Serious suicide attempt at age 16.

A couple of years ago I fell or was pushed on to the tracks between the gap as I boarded a metro train. The driver didn't see and my life was saved by a passenger who pulled me up with 2 or 3 seconds to spare before my legs would have been ripped off. Unfortunately, I fell heavily on my right leg and very likely caused or hastened the osteoarthritis of my right hip that has forced me to give up running.

I have a very high roof with a fairly steep pitch. A woodpecker put a hole on the front of the cedar frame of my chimney chase. I have to climb to the top of my roof reach out from the the roof and patch this hole. Even though I bought and extra long ladder for repairs no ladder I have would come close to reaching this. The hole is in a position on the chimney chase I can't see it so I have to reach around patch by touch.

There is no reason I should lose my balance and fall doing this simple repair, but if I did I would be severely injured or even die. I could call a professional to do this simple repair but that seems silly to me (my wife wants that).

I will do it when I muster enough courage. For now I just know its there waiting.

I was driving down the highway in the middle of the night came to a bridge. At about 65 miles per hour I was in the Middle Lane at the last second I noticed something in the middle of line under the bridge. And I swerved right my car almost tipped and then back to the left. The thing in the middle of the road was some big steel thing that had fallen off the back of a truck I nearly missed it.

Another time I was driving on the highway with no more than 20 30 ft visibility. This time I was driving a big van everyone was gone about 20 miles per hour with they're warning lights on. The road was Pure Ice though and people were still sliding off. My van went perpendicular one way and then I'll do a perpendicular the other way before finally getting it stable again.

I once had a baseball hit my collarbone another inch or two higher would hit my throat.

I was once jogging on some trails with headphones on and a black bear came out of the woods about ten feet from me. I stopped and froze for a little bit and it did too then I turned started walking backwards. This is when I was a teenager and I didn't deal with it the right way. I started jogging and it followed me jogging itself when I got out of round the bend I took off sprinting luckily it did not follow.

I feel from the top of a slide when I was 3 probably had a concussion but it could have been worse. I hit my head quite a bit when I was young that makes a lot of sense.

Once. My friends and I were having fun at the pool when one of them suddenly jumped on my back while I was submerged on the water. Fought with him for 5 minutes because he thought I was still playing around before he realized that I was running out of breath and the pressure from being under water is getting into me.
