Agreed! I thought her attempt to get to the Olympics on the track last year was really incredible as well. She may have another sub 2:25 in the marathon left in those old legs.

And the youngest guy who is obviously on a steep improvement curve while the other two are at best not yet over the hill. Why is this concept so difficult to understand?
And yes, the announcers being shocked was idiotic. Any student of the sport knew it would come down to Ritz, Teg and Derrick. Any intelligent student of the sport knew that only Ritz and Derrick had a real chance. So, to be shocked by Derrick's win is...idiotic.

I find it wildly entertaining that the same people on this thread complaining about the s****y race coverage and color commentary are probably the same people who turn around and complain about flotrack converting to a pay-per-view model. pick one guys! you cant have the best for free and flotrack knows it! stop complaining and cough up the dough so flotrack can bring us great race coverage of every meet, all year long!

Looking at the team results I was initially surprised to see the Army team on top, but then noticed that they were loaded with Kenyan-American talent in form of Cheseret, Chirlee, and Maiyo.

No non-African born individual has won since 1985. No non-African team has won since 1980. The odds are so incredibly stacked against Derrick in this race I wouldn't blame him if he changes his mind about going.

He qualifies for Moscow in the 10,000m with a top 15 placing.
What happened to Tegekamp's kick?? Since he got injured in late '09/'10 he hasn't had that same ability to close at the end of races. Maybe it's something to do with his form. He gets tight and his stride shortens but I suppose that happens to everyone when they get tired.
USATF should be ashamed that this was their coverage of a championship event. I get that the camera on the back of the Gator isn't always the most exciting, but why not have a few cameras on the course, one in the sky on the platform, and one on the Gator? They could only tell who two or three people in each field were, unless they were right in front of the tower. Truly sad coverage.
Technical aspect aside, it was great to see Chris Derrick pick up a huge win in his first pro race. I've been a big fan of his for a while, and it was tough to see him leave NCAA without a title. Good for him.
Who has said if they're not goin to Poland? In his post-race interview he said he likely was, but I wasn't sure of anyone else.

Why should the consumer pick a company to be loyal to and not complain about? It's their job to cater to our interests and respond to our criticism. Brand loyalty and lack of criticism leads to staleness.
the difference between this coverage and NCAA 2011's coverage is that you need the right course for airborne coverage (I recall the Terra Houte broadcasts being at least legit). I do agree that there needs to be some ground cameras or something, but I remember last year the feed was even worse so at least it is a step in the right direction
This to me indicates that Derrick is thriving with Schumacher's group, finally with strong enough training partners to allow him to reach his potential. He may be markedly better than 27:31 this year. Not a bad result for Ritz and Teg. I expected Ritz to win but all he needs is health and he may have some more great performances in him this year. Can he get back to 12:56 shape again? This is only a little over a year of health for him now. Is he running a spring marathon?

Ummm...Do you really think that Derrick thinks he will win World Cross? Do you really think he would be discouraged by the prospect of finishing 15th? Or 25th? Seriously?
