Just checked the hs records where my kids will some day go to school. They're pretty interesting. The same kid has the 3mile (who runs the 3mile in hs track?), 3200, 1600 and 800 records. Check this out.

Kind if interesting progression. My guess, as he matured, he got stronger and therefore much faster, and moved down in distance.
Maybe my kids will have a shot if they want to get after them in another 9-10 years.
The women's track distance records at my former high school are:

small school (40-50 kids per class) in a "football-is-king" midwestern state that absolutely blows at distance running & might be the worst state in the US for HS distance running.

Except for the 4:14 all of those records were set during my time in hs. I think the 800, 1600 and 3200 will all fall in the next 2 years. They are pretty mediocre records anyway. Our only incredible record was in the pole vault (17'8.5"). That was the national hs record at the time.

I'm amazed these records still stand. My hometown is a soccer mad crazy town going back to the 1970's. You would think it could produce one freak runner in 30 years. From what I have read Brett Gotcher was born in Watsonville but attended rival Aptos HS. But he only would have broken the 3200m record.
