All due respect, it was clearly Uceny's fault. If this had been a preliminary heat they might have let her move on but the final is just that.

She needs to learn how to race better in a pack.
Tough luck. No one wished for this but life and racing goes on.

I was thinking a bit more about the notion of re-running an Olympic event because someone fell via some unfortunate chain of events, but no foul. This seems to be an extension of the Walmart/Costco customer mindset that any and all merchandise can be returned, opened, schit on, or otherwise used. The general idea is, if you don't like the product or results, don't worry, you can start over (with the purchasing process, race, or what have you). Can you think of other examples of this general idea?
Morgan likes to make other runners hurt, but it's the other runners who seem to knock her to the track and trample her whenever there's a medal on the line.
Considering that they only ran a 700 meter race, I think a week's recovery would be excessive. That being said, re-running the race is absurd.
This happens all too often in the women's races, this year and last year it was Morgan, before that it was Gelete Burka the year she was the clear favourite, the line goes back to Decker-Slaney and possibly longer, every championship it's someone in one or more of all the finals. If you are or think you are the best then take it from the front like Rudisha did in the 800s and the way El Gerrouch did when he was at his best.
Hmm... In all fairness, El Gerroch did fall the same way in his first Olympic final, I remember him saying that motivated him to go on for another four years and train even harder so that he would be able to run it all the way from the front the way he then came to do.

Stop this abusrd American tradition of advancing people who fall over. Stop teaching runners that if you fall over then you get to go to the next round. And stop this stupid American idea of recalling a race if someone falls in the first 100 meters. The first time I race in the USA and they said that I thought They must be joking. That's not in the rules.

Really? Inside lane has the position of the outside runner. If you are in outside lane and you move into inside lane runners position you are essentially cutting the inside runners right to run at full form. Picture two cars.....Uceny's rear bumper clipped Ethiopians front fender...get it?? That is how it is the fault of the runner in front.
