This whole tack has been idiotic. Everyone else immediately got what was referred to. A couple of not picking idiots think it is worth being bothered over a few missed digits...when any runner...and especially any runner that has had it...immediately knew what was being referred to...and those in the know would have read the news issue about Hall's "plantar."
Gimme us a break and deal with the issue at hand: If you have a serious injury should you give the next guy or gal in line maximum time to be prepared as an alternate?

Ryan is a professional, a Stanford man, and a great person. Ryan and his family are well known in the Southern California running community. Ryan knows he has hundreds of years of Southern California sports tradition (#1 Sports Tradition in the WORLD with the international medals, national championships, and college championships to prove it) to live up to as the Los Angeles Kings did on Monday. I'm sure Ryan has made the right decision by continuing to train for London 2012.

Everyone is forgetting that there is a movie being made about the build-up to the Olympics for Hall. That's all in motion now and he cannot drop out. Even if hurt, he will continue to push the envelope and he will toe the line in London. It would be a huge embarrassment if he didn't.
The huge embarrasment will come in London when he goes out in 62 with the leaders and comes back with a 78 to finish in a crowd pleasing 2:20

No. You are forgetting that other countries can and do require a fitness test if "current" form is not "competitive". And no, a fitness test doesn't have to be of marathon length.
Is this true? Never heard of that. Does the USA do it?
