Centro's throat slit

Care to name a single gesture by a sprinter that justifies this comparison? I don't think it's a big deal at all, but I don't think your comment about sprinters is fair.

Times like these make me wish that track was a bit more old school, like in the next race one of Ulrey's teammates would just knock Centro onto the infield during the first lap to get even. Then everyone wouldn't get their panties in a twist about how to punish showboaters (stupid) and there would be less of this rather embarrassing behavior.

I have no reason to beleive that Centro is not a good guy, but he is not a child. He made a mistake today and there will likely be consequences. We will see what he is made of with how he handles this controversy. If he does it right, all will be forgotten and he will be a better man for it. If not, his reputation will be tarnished.

I am hoping he does the right thing, apologizes and handles it with class.

The only people who think this is a controversy are a handful of people on this message board.

I thought it was pretty damn classy...Centro is a class act, ya'll just hating as usual...must be Rupp fans or pollen sufferers!

I was watching it live and the first thing I thought was how stupid the kid looked when he did it. It shows no class and the gesture is completely stupid.

Track could use some more personalities- loved or hated- it gains more attention and is better than a bunch of guys without personalities.

My first thought when I viewed the race was that he should be disqualified for Unsportsmanlike conduct. If this were basketball he would have been given a technical or in football a 15yd penalty. Just because you win an NCAA title does not give you the right to make any kind of gesture that you want. What would you say if he stuck up his middle finger after the race? I guess that would be fine as well. Also for the record, the race wasn't that great. The 100, 200 and 800 were great fast races. Just because a race is tactical does not make it great.

After reading all these silly hate posts, I realized that Pre would have loved the gesture. I also suspect, recalling the balls those guys had that both Pre and Centro Sr. would have done same...and more. Screw the panty waisted LR posters, most of us loved Centros motion and realized it for what it is.
