Kim Smith 53:55 through 10 miles, average pace of 5:23 per mile. Women's pack is almost 50 seconds back!

I just wonder why some people are saying Smith is doing the right thing but Hall isn't.
I, personally, think they'll both blow up- fall back. I don't think leading early is a good idea. But, I applaud them both for running their way.
By the way, did anyone notice the London winner kneel, make the sign of the cross and pray after winning yesterday?
Is he a nut job? Why is no one making fun of him.
Show some tolerance and don't be critical, and obviously jealous of, successful people.

The ladies may make an awful mistake here. Try to catch up to other runners on a downhill is very difficult. On a downhill with tailwind is even harder. Good luck.

Is it a 'dead-on' tailwind or coming from a bit of an angle, and how close are the other runners. The tailwind is probably about running speed, which is almost 13 mph. Note that the listed wind speed is for a weather station monitor that is located 10m above ground level and away from obstructions, so if they are saying 20mph, then it is closer to 13 on the ground. Would be lower if the trees were leafed out but might be a bit above (i.e., 70% of 'official' speed).
If Ryan Hall wins with a course record, I will go to church on Sunday for the rest of my life. If he is off the lead pack by mi 18, I will go on with my life of loose women and cheap liquor. It is all in your hands Ryan.

anyways, I too, believe that Hall will probably blow up, but I think what he is doing is gutsy, and it is definitely respectable.

the reason kim is doing the right thing is that the women always run horribly slow in the early stages of boston...it's ridiculous how slow they went last year.
the reason ryan is doing the wrong thing is that the men always hall balls the entire way and this year the field is stronger than ever. he's just gambling by being off the front.

In the meantime, Cheruiyot looks like he wants to dictate the pace rather than follow it, and is sharing the lead with Hall. I suspect he's confident and drops a fast mile to grab control before the hills...
