It sounds like you would enjoy research more than being a practicing physician.

But to be a good researcher, it helps to have an area that you are passionate about. i suspect many of the breakthroughs in cures for diseases happened because the right people had the passion for the topic. They watched their kid or parent suffer from something and they actually had the knowledge to study the disease.

I hope the clinical years are better, 2nd year makes me want to jump off the nearest bridge. We actually had a suicide this year one of 3rd years hung herself during the ob/gyn rotation.

This thread is 4 years old. OP if you can survive the training you will be rewarded with a 250k+ salary. But the thing is you have to survive the training. Hopefully you did something else.

It's not worth it anymore, unless you have some great connections to get your own practice going quickly or are one of those Indians with crap credentials whom the US Govt. subsidizes (along with all manner of other third world frauds). AND DON'T LIE ABOUT HOW COMPETENT THE SUB-CONTINENTAL DOCTORS ARE. For example, every year MDs in CA get a list of all the Medical Doctors in the state who were brought up malpractice charges, and those Indians with their falsified CV's etc. are over 80% of the individuals listed. The list is over 90% jam-packed with, eh, "immigrants" and the like. It's scary.
