How can Wheating beat him? By being first at the finish line.
Given that Andrews had to PR to get in the final (and burn the last 150 meters) while Wheating ran the easiest 1:48 of his life (he says), coupled with Wheating's homefield advantage, with a gun to my head I would pick Wheating in a very close finish. The Duck won't crack (just quack). It's gonna be a thrilla.

Well for starters I would definitely look to the collective wisdom of the posters on the letsrun.com message board. The answer is surely there to be found.

I've done some research and you are right. I was kind of thinking/hoping that Wheating would win this one at home and think he deserves it as a senior. But I was like "how does anyone beat a 26.6 last 200 for a 145.5? That's almost unbeatable. THen i looked at the pre-classic results from last year.
Symmonds last 200? 25.77. His final time 1:45.86.
The top 6 guys at pre call closed faster than 26.60. Lots of them in the 25s.

If I were Wheating I'd mix it up a little and land in about 5th or 6th down that first backstretch and try to slip up to 3rd or 4th coming into bell lap and sit and relax around that 3rd corner and into the backstretch. Not so far off, though he didn't actually get into first until maybe 150 or less to go but he did start his press with 250 to go and Robby couldn't cover. Robby looked flat but that was long overdue. You simply can't come up with glorious kicks every race. Just ask Wheating.
Still an amazing year for a frosh and he's not done yet.
For Wheating, I think he got the monkey off his back and might have some huuuuuge PR's this summer. Personally hoping for a mile race at PRE. 800 may not be that fast there and he can always go to Europe for those. He's close to 3:50-3:51 shape now and that puts you as a contender at PRE.
As soon as I start pretending I'm Wheating, I realize that I can actually score some hot chicks and then I lose all interest in running.
