You're definitely right - but your stance ridicules even the possibility of the phenomenon. You say "it's impossible" - that requires proof. Steve said, "It's not impossible." How is that saying that it "does happen?" It's that type of close-mindedness (steadfastly holding to accepted dogma) that you're ironically trying to break in other types discussions. If you're going to be an iconoclast, at least be consistent. And you wonder why people have trouble listening to you (and I dig your input in other discussions - I really do).

He wrote, "White to red occurs." That's saying it does happen. If I'm going to get called out for saying it's impossible, then he should get the same treatment for saying it definitely happens. Where's the proof?

All that matters is that this was not designed for runners. He even says unless your going to be doing a running event an aerobic base is not necessary. He's talking about training athletes in sports like football, hockey or something that has short plays with rest. The point is you train the athlete the same way his sport is going to be played, in an on and off fashion since that is specific. The specifics of running is just running, obviously it's much more complex than that but for his argument he's right except for his comments on cross country. That becomes more of a training theory question and it makes it seem like his belief on cross country is just go and doing long runs when we all know that is not true.

Anyone think that those organizations who have their Trademarked Logos all over his website might want to have a word with him?

No you need both. A boxer would get the intensive work during sparring and I've heard of boxers adding interval type training to their base mile work (even as far back As Ken Buchanen WC in the 70's)

Running 30 minutes on the TM 3-4 times a week, for the average overweight person, equates to running 9-12 miles or less. That's 1000 calories, which can easily be replaced by having a burger and fries. Nobody gets thin from running ~10 miles a week.

OTOH, somebody that runs 45-90 minutes slow 5-6 times a week will eventually develop a strong aerobic base and become reasonably fit. That said, they may still run slow.

I like how Boyle cites Ben Johnson as supporting evidence that aerobic training is bad for sprinters. Because we all know he set the world record with legitimate training! LMAO at that one.

Also, the typical hockey shift is 30-40 seconds. So obviously hard interval training is key for these guys.
