Back to HFCS, this is not due to capitalism--just the opposite. US makers use HFCS due to sugar price supports which makes sugar much more expensive in the US than in other countries.

The US Sugar industry has great political clout (w/ both parties) and uses it to distort the market. This is not capitalism, rather gov't intervention into the economy. Exactly the approach favored by liberals.

Exactly! I think in the 1700's they called it Mercantilism! Fascism is probably the extreme.

humans are not living longer now then in the past. more are living to be old, but we are not living any longer as individuals.

on the topic of nutrition/health i feel the biggest factor is genetics. my wife and i eat the same diet (with mine being a little worse). my blood pressure and cholesterol (her 210-220, me 120-130)are way better than hers. she runs 5-8 miles 5 days a week. not like she is a lazy ass.

should i eat processed food everyday? no. do i? yes. should i drink dr pepper, not really, but i do as it tastes great. not every day but i do drink it.

Not true. Take out all the people who died before the age of 10 on both sides. We are living shorter lives than in the past.
