Webb in 2 mile at Pre

That is an excellent response and prediction. The fact is Teg is in the shape that he probably should be in at this time of the year. On the other hand, Webb is probably in too good of shape for this time of the year (I hope that he gets a WC medal and proves me wrong) Maybe he is going to have his best season ever!!! Teg, I believe is pacing himself for a long season; I hope that Teg is in good enough shape to run fast (but I predict about 8:12 - 8:14)

I do think that Teg could break 8:30 in the 3k and 8:09 in the 2 mile in a late season meet!!!!!!!

Well Tariku got the faster PR over 3k and his current form is superb. It seems like you didn't noticed the humid conditions in that 5k, you can only compare the time to others in the race. 9.5 sec down to 2nd place Micah Kogo says it all.

Tariku is young and it's reasonable to think he improved more than his brother over the last year. It's still early season and my guess is that Kenenisa is pretty far off from peak performance, his race in Hengelo was OK nothing more.

He won the race, didn't he? It's not always about time.

He's in good shape, he was even talking about going for the 2 mile WR a few weeks ago.

in no way is webb best 1500/mile. just because he beat lagat in JUNE! doesnt mean he is the best.

Webb's a 3:48 miler, who finished 9th in the world 2 years ago, when he wasn't as good. He also just finished beating Lagat & Mottram. On top of that, some consider Webb's best distance to be the 3K. There are not dozens of runners who would expect to beat Webb.

In response to a previous poster, I think Webb may have the HS record in the 1000, but the AR is held by Rick Whoulter at 2:13.

Anyway, Im having trouble understanding why there are people who are getting on Webbs case for not racing all 1500/mile races this year. The guy wants to run the deuce at Pre, so what. Maybe hes decided he wants to race Bekele. Hes already beaten Lagat this year, now he wants to take on Bekele in what should be Bekele's event. If anything we should be happy that he wants to try and beat him. And yes, I think Webb is going to try to beat Bekele, if he finds himself anywhere near him off of the early pace. As far as the AR is concerned, the only way Webb wont lower his own record is if Teg or Fam beats him to it.

The 3K is not even recognized as a Olympic or WC event. The 3K is used as a training tool for either the 1500 or 5000. It is a conditioning event.

I guess that makes Komen's 3K WR the best training run in history.

I sure hope none of the top U.S. runners, or any others for that matter, drop out of the race either before or during. This race, although early season, could say a lot about the current condition of mid/long distance runners from many different countries! With the field they currently have assembled, this race (at a particularly interesting distance) could determine who is top dawg in U.S. distance running as we enter the meat of the international track season...

if webb doesnt win hopefully he breaks his own AR and runs sub-8:10

It was a great training run that led to other great performances in distances the IAAF recognizes.

I'll give you that Tariku's recent 5k was better than I am giving credit for. I didn't study the results closely, and yes, beating Kogo easily and having several other top runners finish with slow times shows that T. Bekele ran fast in tough conditions. Hey, I've been saying for awhile that I think he could run as fast as his brother.......some day.

You mention that T. has a faster 3k than K. Well, K's 2-mile is superior to T's 3k, and K. just hasn't run a top race at 3k yet. He certainly can though.

Maybe this will be the year T. challenges his brother. But I don't see predicting T will beat him so soon based on one good 5k in tough conditions and also just because K. has mentioned that he has been struggling. T. has not won a race against a stacked field yet, and K has won TOOOONS of such races. Big difference.

Teg is currently ranked 14th in the world by the IAAF in the 5000. He is even ranked 30th in the 1500 meters.

Teg has to be one of the favorites here. Surely the 13:04 he ran last year would equal at least a 8:17 two mile. Right now Teg is the only American that has a shot at a sub 13:00 5k.

7. (7.) Khadevis ROBINSON 76 USA 1298

Mr. Robinson is ranked 7th in the world by the IAAF making him after lagat (4) the highest ranking US distance runner. Robinson is really the heir to Krummenacker.

With Johnny Gray as Coach Robinson is ready to break out and get his coaches AR. I would rank Gray right up there with Scott and Ryun as one of the top US distance runners ever.

We have been talking a lot about Lagat, Webb, Teg, Hall, and even Lukezic. However I have not heard much about Robinson and Krummenacker.
