i shouldn't even entertain this nonsense, but i'll give you this one chance to save some face and apologize. look, slick, i think i may have capitalized 9-10 letters in that entire post. moreover, the only ones that i capitalized on purpose were "YOU" and "UN" twice. These were not capitalized out of respect or reverence but rather for EMPHASIS. If you look really carefully, veteran, i don't think i even capitalized the word "I" once. doesn't really reek of arrogance now does it? You'd think you were a student of cummings the way you so brilliantly analyzed my syntax. on second thought, i don't really give a shit whether you apologize or not. this is the last i'll say on this thread. ps. sorry, to those on the board who have to read this retort.

And today the Bush administration withdrew from talks to strengthen the Biological Weapons Convention against germ warfare. Will Rumsfeld drop a bomb on the Pentagon or will he send in inspectors to Fort Detrick first???

Noticed that this Bomb Iraq thread was tied with Deer Hunting Thread with 86 posts for the week, so I thought I would add a post to bring it back to first place for the Running topic of the week!

The US *should* oppose any limitation on our ability to research and develop the weapons of choice of our current enemies (rogue states & terrorists). That is basic self-survival. Do you think the various terrorist groups and rogue states like North Korea and Iraq will abide by the well-meaning "Biological Weapons Convention"? I think not.

If we don't defend our own interests, no one else will.

Yeah. And don't forget to wear your Nipguards whilst developing biological weapons...

Depends what you mean by "get done". If the US is able to research biological weapons (that includes developing them), that will enable us to create defenses, be better prepared, make vaccines, etc. I'd consider that "getting something done". On a larger level, I am very suspect of assuming that just because the US tends to honor treaties / conventions, other nations will. Especially those who have proven otherwise. It's kind of like the cold war argument. Do we unilaterally disarm or do we build up our own defenses to be prepared for aggression?

knower, i deduce from your one-dimensional political babble that you are extremely naive about foreign policy and america's role in the middle east in general. succinctly, it is YOU and not trackhead who knows shit. All trackhead was really saying is that the united states of america is not exactly an innocent party when it comes to world politics (economic terrorism, trade sanctions, a vested interest in foreign oil, etc...). Do i think the taliban sucks? f*** yeah. do i think that we were right in going after bin laden? f*** yeah. should we invade iraq? maybe...i'm at least prudent enough to recognize that the UN doesn't exactly have our back on this one; whether the UN is right about being reluctant in our going after iraq or not, the political and economic consequences of pissing off the greater part of europe should at least be considered by our legislators, executives, and the people who elect them. In short, the general public, you and i and trackhead included, don't know the world scene through and through and would probably sound a lot less like dumbasses if we didn't shoot our mouths off as if we were omnicient. let's keep the talk to something slightly less multivariate-how about running?
