Hes 30...coming off his best year ever...training under Gray...id say he has 3-4 more good years in him. Retires in 2009 after worlds maybe.

I hope he improves a bit more and does indeed run 'til '09. However, this kid Symmonds 'appears' to have more potential, right now. Give him a couple of years before jumping on any bandwagon.

like i said before the undefeated streak applied only to the 800 and lasted 7 years, all of college and from the end of his sophomore year in high school. That is pretty amazing. i know its just idaho, but winning all 3 distance events at states 2 years in a row, pretty nasty, and d3 or not winning 8/15 3/4 years and the 8 all 4 years at nats is also really nasty. who cares how the rest of the season, or the rest of his career turn out, this is a very solid performance at this point in the year, or at all, and that is all anyone should be concerned with.

No one was good in 4a in Idaho when symmonds was there. Too bad hes not there now, there would actually be some competition for him.

Buddy I have a real job I do marketing for a large corporation, I am not at it today due to MLK day, and even if you are a pro runner which is doubtful unless you are one pf the very few American distance runner who is very good I doubt you make much more than $20,000 a year running, a wage that is considered under the poverty level in many cities, and that could be achieved by a 17 year old working at a grocery store. And yes I did read what you typed or more so deciphered, but that is the nature of a message board like this you read good post and bad post cause you cannot really tell who is a good or bad writer by the pseudonym they use. So you can knock me for reading your post, but don’t knock 1:48 and change unless you are a 1:46guy or better which you are not, because anyone that is that good is not going to knock a 1:45 guy that just ran 3:56 alone. Im guessing you are a 1:56 guy at best. I guarantee Khadevis Robinson isn’t overlooking a 22 year old who was second in the US championships off of DIII training especially since Khadevis is 30 he probably can’t improve for many years longer. But Nick has about a decade or so left.

Idaho should not have that many divisions it is to small. The high school battles between Symmonds and Forest Braden could have been great. At least in the 1600 and 3200

I'd agree on the 1600 being a decent race, but forrest would kill nick in the 3200. Forrest ran 9:15 his senior year at state while Nick only ran 9:35.

I agree and Forest has been a DI All-American but Symmonds would have killed Forrest in the 800. But I am not sure if Forrest ran the 800 in HS but from my experience with him he seems like a guy whou would have. Both of them are great guys. My favorite thing about Forrest was in HS and I think his first year or so in college he was a volunteer forest fire fighter so he didnt really train for xc cause he was fighting forest fires

Where is BIG I am not familiar with that meet? Im sure he could get into some really good ones at UW as well if he wanted, that is a fast track thus the 3:56

800m man, your posts are no more coherent. for instance, in your first post you called it a "peace of writing" it is "piece." this is not a typo it is called illiteracy. nothing to be ashamed of, you should just go to night school, there are lots of adult literacy classes.

KD ran 145.72 at the age of 21 and 364 days...Symmonds ran 145.83 at the age of 22 and about 180 days...so im not sure you can really say he has more potential. Its not easy to keep dropping as KD can attest to...or any 800 runner when they get to that level. JJ was ran 1:44.77 at the age of 22 and its two years later and hes gotten slower.

I hope Symmonds goes on to be a world beater...but right now hes about even with what KD was at his age...and behind JJ. Which doesnt mean squat i agree...but you cant say he has more potential really. I think people are giving him a little too much on the "potential" side just because he ran d3.

but the thing is that he dropped two seconds when he finally raced in a fast race. and that 1:45 was his third 800 in 4 days. Ever since high school he has stepped up to any challenge in front of him. he is a tough kid who never backs down from a challenge no matter what it is. he also ran a 5:30 beer mile which to my knowledge is the fastest by any american on record.
