fair enough Somerset boy there probably is something involved like that! Just a real shame that nothing has been sorted out yet.

I think both sides are carefully trying to leave the ball in the other side's court. But the bottom line is that if Emily goes to their camp she runs in Beijing and if she won't then she doesn't. Who's fault is that?
If it was my kid, they'd got to the camp. But then I do not have the background that they do with UKA.
But UKA will have to bear the burden for this too and they are equally in the wrong. It does appear to be a battle of wills here.
I just find it amazing that Emily would miss the world's for that reason. I still suspect that there is more to it.
If I was UKA I'd be waiting for a lawyer's letter arriving in the post any day...

Good point - I'd be interested to know too.

Is it possible that this is the final straw in the dispute between the Pidgeon camp and UKA ?
I imagine with Emily's talent she is around to stay and so this conflict will runa and run.
The only likely resolvement that I can see is a change in personnel at UKA.

Bryn, there is a third reason and it relates to the legal issues. These are not so easy to resolve when the legal eagles are involved.
Bryn,
I suspect Somerset Lad is spot on.

No it wasnt UKA's decision. The Press Release from David Collins says that she was given the choice of two events, and was selected for both or perhaps either. She decided that she would not accept the invite as it required her to go to the holding camp for a couple of days on the way to Beijing.
I really cannot see the problem with the UKA proposal, but then I do not know what the Pidgeon alternative was. Does anybody know what they wanted to do rather than go to Macau ?
It just seems stupid that this chance is being lost over such a simple issue.
Is it possible that this is the final straw in the dispute between the Pidgeon camp and UKA ?
Sigh, yet another flawed argument.
Sad to see.......; If you were to be given the choice of execution by: 1. Hanging, or 2. Electric chair, you would find the fact that you were given two alternatives satisfactory? The fact that they are variants of what ought to be the big issue; ie the execution would not be a problem?
Who would you like to see changed? Just interested in who you think at UKA is/are the main problem here?
If you read back through all of the statements, press releases and cuttings 2006 seems like quite a confused year for Emily.
After she was pre-selected for World Cross she said she was looking forward to the 2 World Champs this year, Fukuoka and Beijing.
Then she withdrew from Fukuoka, although I havnt seen any reasons for that.
That left Beijing. However recently Farrow said that Gothenburg was a better target, and she tried to qualify for the Europeans. When she ran out of time, she was left with Beijing.
Despite not running in the AAA Junior (which the selection policy said you must) she was still selected for two events in Beijing. She then declined the invite because of the Macau trip.
Perhaps Emily is avoiding running for the UK so she has less time to wait before she runs for another country - did I hear Ireland mentioned ?

I never said I wanted anyone changed. I have little knowledge of either the Pidgeon camp or UKA.
I simply said I did not think the dispute would end until there was change.
From what I have read lately, it looked like there would be change soon enough...
Conspiracy theories, eh, Somerset! Intriguing!
Is that pure guess work or do have some insider info on that?
Sorry. If you are refering to the Seb Coe info I'm afraid that's false info and he has no intentions -yet(who knows later on what this guy will do) - of taking over. At the moment Dave Collins is here to stay.
If I was given the choice of going to the world juniors via macau or staying at home - I would go via macau. So is that a flawed argument as well ?
Sigh....... more over the top support for an unsupportable position
Oooh!I like consipiracy theories...
Although along the whispering grape vine I too have heard the utterings of Ireland... and she does have Irish relations does she not?!

Convincing athletes to sign contracts before reading and understanding them may be very hard work indeed.
Also going about work in an unstructured (and un-intelligent) way, also have a tendency to keep you very busy... ...without producing much of a result...
Leadership is about acting in such a way so that people like to follow, not using power & contracts to enforce compliance...

Very true.
Lack of Leadership.
Blimey oh Reily, me too! Give me the vest I'll take her place, but then I don't put the hours in that no doubt she does so I suppose I dont deserve it!
But as have been reading, why train so hard, as no doubt she does, for no outcome. It just doesnt make sense to me, but then hey what do I know! I've now put my money down on the Irish pathway, that would say why she won't take the oportunity for a British vest.
Ok I'll try Boyle this time, is there anyone you would like to see changed/removed/added in their UKA role at the mo - not saying that you had said you wanted anyone changed/removed/added.
This Irish thing may indeed make a lot of sense and explain a lot of what is going on too.
But if it does happen, UKA should hang their heads in shame. When you have someone that good you do what you can to keep them.
Maybe, it would, I agree to be a huge shame to lose Emily and her talent. However knowing that the lawyers are/have been involved maybe and unfortunately the baggage she comes with is more trouble than it's worth.
Wouldn't surprise me in the slightest.
Shades of Fiona May...
Give us some names to play with - who at UKA is involved here ?
We know the Pidgeon camp, Farrow, the parents, the athlete. Who are they up against that they feel cause them problems ?
Cor that pigeon is one fit mumma - who cares when she next runs. She is the perfect case for topless athletics
Without naming names and getting myself into trouble they have put a complaint in about nearly everyone.
