A long, long time before we see Lincoln, Torres, Goucher, Hall under 13. That race hit the brakes at 3500m and those guys couldn't catch up.

curious to know how many americans jumping up and down for Lagat's win ?
Lagat's A sample tested positive for EPO and they never tested his be sample because it "accidentally got destroyed" while they were taking it out to test it. Lucky break for an obvious druggie. You think he's clean now running even faster? I think not.

Lagat - born and raised in Kenya a transplant here so represents USA but not an American
wrong.
geb was great, probably the greatest, but how often did he go up against someone like el g? bekele went up against lagat today who has very similar credentials to el g (multiple WC and Oly medals 326 PR). bekele also faced off against el g in 2003 WC 5k and 2004 Oly 5k. geb rarely attempted the 5k/10k at a championship meet while bekele has done it twice in his career already. he seems to put it on the line more than geb did. i just don't really recall geb facing off against anyone who has super speed like lagat. is there any instance besides his 1500m indoor title where he was up against super fast kickers???

Yeah, I agree, because NEVER is a long time (get a grip).
But you said in the same sentence: "Teg is still # 2 American" and "Teg #1 American"
See why there would be confusion?
Rupp didn't race. He wasn't in the official start list today. Let it go.
geb took 2nd in that indoor race at Birmingham

Lagat and Bonds are in the same book for me.
Is there any reason why you left out Landis in this sentence? You mentioned him earlier, but interesting how you specifically left him out in the above sentence.
Teg is still # 2 American - Lagat #1 USA but Teg #1 American
Sorry, but I failed this logic test... WTF?
Hmm not that hard to figure out.
Teg - born and raised here hence an American
Lagat - born and raised in Kenya a transplant here so represents USA but not an American
No, to say 'Teg is #2 American' and then to say 'Teg is #1 American' is illogical.
in 1998 he raced 1500m and 3000 - a lot of kickers in those races and he beat them. and when he was starting out he was in 1994's Morceli's 3000m WR. although 13sec behind. and there was also 1995 or 1996's GP Final over 3000 where he outkicked Niyongabo and some Moroccans by a fraction of a second. That was an awesome race. And no lame-ass lane moving either. These are just a bunch off the top of my head in 10sec. There are a ton more I am sure.

Landis/Slaney - a high testosterone ratio is a lot different than a positive EPO test. Ain't it?
Geb ran only as fast as he had to through most of his prime in order to break world records more often. And you are mistaken about Geb racing bekele head to head in his prime. They never raced until after Geb damaged his achilles, after which he was never really the same. The point is really that bekele DOES regularly make tactical mistakes while Geb rarely did.

And don't forget, Geb was also SLOWER than Bek too!
(puhleaze.....Bek crushed Geb head to head, when Geb was still pretty much in his prime. And he's run several seconds faster at both 5k and 10k than Geb, and came inches away from winning 5/10 doubles that Haile was usually too much of a pussy to even try. If it weren't for some bad tactics on Bekele's part, and the greatest miler of all time doubling also, Bekele WOULD have won 5/10 doubles two years in a row. )

ok, so basically Morcelli kicked Geb's ass once, and we know Komen demolished him once in a GP 5k.....any more? So at least twice, he got pummelled in races that were in his best range 3k-10k. How many times has Bekele been pummelled in races over those distances??? That's right...ZERO. (he's been outkicked a few times, but never whupped. I was bringing up times that Geb got crushed. Geb's obvioulsy lost more than twice. Bekele only loses when he lets it become a kicker's race. But no one simply runs away from him )
It should be noted as well that Lagat not only beat Bekele, he also BEAT THE PREVIOUS TWO 5K WORLD CHAMPIONS (Kipchoge and Limo)
Have to agree that no one simply runs away from Bekele. But the comparison will certainly mean more when he has raced as long as Geb.
