Laros is a huge talent as well. Turns 21 on 4/17. His range from 800 to 5000 is astonishing.
Expecting big things from Laros and Meyers this year and beyond. I imagine that will be THE rivalry at 1500 over the next 4-5 yrs.
If we’ve learned anything of late in the M1500 it’s that pinning down 2 athletes might be futile. The event is deep and always throwing up new threats. Ahead of Laros at Worlds I don’t think we saw Reynold Cheruiyots A+ day but he still medaled. And then Hocker is still plenty in his prime through 2029
Reynold is that boy. Stupid wheels. Same “age” as Laros too
This is a good point but I actually don’t know if he needs someone in front to run fast. His style and fitness seems so similar to Jakob around his age I think he could PR wire to wire in a paced race
Well given that he was only .05 off his PR in this race - after leading from gun to tape - you'd think that being paced through 800m would give him at least 1 second.
In a good paced race he could expect pacing to at least 1050m and that would give him almost 2 seconds.
I have argued before that these top athletes get about 1 sec per 500m good pacing.
Bruce William McAvaney (born 22 June 1953) is an Australian sports broadcaster with the Seven Network. McAvaney has presented high-profile events including the AFL Grand Final, Melbourne Cup, Australian Open, Test cricket and...
PS. Can we get that Aussie commentator for US track broadcasts? I love him. Who is that?
The only thing bad about the broadcast was too many close ups of Myers. We want to see the wide shot to see how much he's destroying everyone. Maybe one closeup on the last lap but otherwise save that for the replays.

'Only' been commentating every OG since 1984 LA Games, and every other big sport event in Australia, but renowned for athletics for both his calling and excellent knowledge of the sport and athletes. After the session last night Channel 7-Plus showed "Unfiltered" with him interviewing both Sha Carrie and Christian Coleman over here for Stawell Gift last Monday I think. Worth watching if you can find it.
Bruce is 'only' 72, 3 yrs older than me, looks a lot older but he has suffered with leukaemia since 2015, which explains the aging over the last few years.
Absolute legend in Australia
On the coverage, I think a lot of thye gap was shown and definitely better than some DL where they would probably have cut to the discus in the middle of it. The womens' pole vault (in middle of race) case in point, he commentated on split screen until the moment Kennedy started running up and the other commentator did his bit, then he just carried on.

3:36.1A today to win African Games Trials. He looked good and was gesturing at Brian Komen to join him for the 1-2 with around 100 to go. His plans are Xiamen 5,000, African Games 1500, and Commonwealth Games 5,000 (interestingly). 5,000 at Commonwealths surprised me but maybe it’s his best gold medal hope. It also clears the way for Tim, Komen and Koech to make the team potentially.
