Do you remember in 2021, when Teare ran 7:46.10. It was a big deal. Now, I stopped even listing the college runners who ran slower than 7:41.99 today because the list was becoming too long.
And, they (FloTrack announcers) say ESP is targeting a 4:14 mile -- which would break her own 4:16.41 AR and be damn close to Genzebe Dibaba's 4:13.31 WR.
Post above mentioned the camera will be on her and may not show everyone else as they finish -- all likely with pr's.
Well, at least this is one race Jane Hedengren will be able to draft off others and not have to lead the whole way.
Pretty much expecting a new NCAA record from Jane . . . with a sub-4:20 possible.
Wilma Nielson/OR also late entrant in the mile. 4:23.56 pr in the recent Wanamaker Mile, just off teammate Silan Ayyildez's 4:23.46 CR (absolute) from last year.
Riley Chamberlain/BYU owns a 4:26.19/mile pr. However, her 4:02.03/1500 pr is approx equivalent to a 4:22 mile.
Jane Hedengren/BYU. 4:26.14/mile indoor pr. 4:23.50/mile outdoor pr.
Salma Elbadra/SC. 4:31.01/mile pr. However, her 4:05.85/1500 pr is approx equivalent to a 4:26 mile. She also has an 8:41.76/3000 pr which is faster than Chamberlain's.
Meaning, four women have very reasonable opportunities tomorrow to break the collegiate record.
So the camera will be isolated on ESP and we don't get to see the battle between the 4:2x collegians. If we are lucky we see them cross the line. It sucks when a top pro gets in a college race.
If the mile becomes the ESP show, let's hope John Hedengren is onsite to save the day. His coverage of the Millrose 3k was nice.
More People will qualify from Seattle this weekend than BU this weekend in 5K
so I have a question. They say Dempsey is 307 m. If so it should be a touch over 13 laps for the 4000 m DMR, no? 13*307=3991. But they start the DMR about 4 m ahead of the finish line. What am I missing?

I have placed the question in a more appropriate thread.
I am looking forward to watching nationals in person in a month as there seem to be many great races awaiting us.
No in-persons for me until the outdoor season, so Fayetteville via espn will have to do the trick. I agree, if all the prime movers are healthy, Indoor Nats should feature compelling matchups galore.
The freshman gal that won the Gans Creek Classic this past fall ran a sub 2min 800m this weekend, besting Stanford’s Juliette Whittaker in the same race

Rosemary Longisa of Wash St. Two big recent results on the UW track: 1:59.71 for 2nd ahead of Whittaker and behind Penn St's Hayley Kitching and 4:24.59 two wks ago.
Not the worst mid-Feb result for Whittaker. We've often seen her power home the final 50-60m, but not this time. Longisa held form well to the end and Kitching was just too good on the day.

Speaking post-race, Doris acknowledged the difficulty of the early hot pace and seemed disappointed but not crushed by the result. Plans to race the 5 at SECs and Nats.
