Yes, there are miserable people who try to make themselves feel better by being rude to others in online message boards. That's common knowledge.
It doesn't negate the fact that there are also kind people who might actually be sincere when they offer to help someone. It's obvious you can't tell the difference.
But you can?
I was just agreeing with another poster who called the guy out for trying to leech off of a Pro. If you don’t like it too fvcking bad.
Ralph wasn't leeching. He was trying to help. Sounds like you're comfortable (mis)judging what other people post here, but you don't like your own posts being judged. Too bad.
Just an update, since a couple of days before this thread was started (Jan 3rd), Mantz hasn't posted anything on Strava. So I think we'll be getting an answer pretty soon on whether he'll make a go at attempting to be ready for Boston. And its not looking good. But as others have mentioned, he's due for a total break, so this may be the best result in the end.
Any updates? I believe it has been over 2 months for Conner. Also been nearly 3 months for Clayton and he has averaged less than 5 miles a day this month.

I guess perhaps it’s none of my business. But why is mantz so private about this? Is there some competitive edge that’s lost if he shares his injury?

He's been training in the den with the rest of the injured BYU guys. He doesn't post his workouts often but he's still swimming and doing other forms of cross-training. Same with Clayton but Clayton is maybe a bit further along.
With the 15 week build stuff, 15 weeks in particular doesn't give me any sort of pause. Conner would almost certainly go if say he had a 10 week build, certainly if he had a 12 week build. The question is just, can he recover in time to even get that, and the answer to that right now is unclear but perhaps trending towards no.
Boston Elite Men's Field was just announced and he's still in there. I'm sure there will be a separate thread on the field in general, but thought I'd mention it here.

Responding to nobody in particular, Mantz doesn’t owe anyone an account of how his training is going or a daily recap on Strava. That he has been so generous to do so over the years is a gift to the rest of us.
Having said that, no matter where he is at in his recovery, I think he would be stupid to run Boston. It’s not just about being able to run 2:10 and collect a paycheck. It’s about the fact that he ran four hard marathons in 14.5 months, starting with the Olympics. Body needs a reset if he wants longevity.

Good news, he's back running outdoors. He posted a couple of runs, just taking it easy, which is still great to see. But if we're to believe his heart rate data, he really is starting over from a fitness standpoint. It's gonna be a long road back, and I'll let everyone else debate whether Boston is doable.

Wait that’s actually wild. His HR is 30+ bpm higher than it normally is at those paces. Would be a quick turnaround for Boston. Honestly just hope he takes a slow comeback so he can stay healthy.
