Training advice, racing advice, team culture advice....everything.....Coaches can't control what a parent says to their child in their home (despite team meetings explaining how damaging it can be) but it makes it hard when a parent (or group of parents) start trying to meddle in everything....

For reference, I grew up with my dad constantly complaining about my coaches at home. Bad strategy, bad training, bad everything, but when I think back on it, my coach did a lot of good things. I think we could have had more structure and education on off-season training and mileage, but for the most part, he did well, but I thought he was an idiot because I came home and my dad told me he was an idiot most nights. Didn't help at all.

The part I find most repugnant is how the rich private school parent mentality--where everything and everyone is a transaction, where the parents with the deepest pockets speak the loudest, and where a snippy cabal of them can easily assassinate the character of a coach they simply don't like for whatever reason--has permeated high school sports at every kind of school.

99% of the xc parents are absolutely fine. The remaining 1% can consume a lot of time. But I hear it's far worse with soccer and ice hockey.

I heard running is just as bad as other sports. It’s not only the parents are getting antsy over their kids but the CIA also poking their noses in athletes affairs trying to meddle in and disrupt their mind and steal their soul. If you think I sound psycho you may check with some of the others on this forum who has agreed with me in other threads. Humans are no longer themselves they are another being altogether. I don’t even know if I can be trusted and that’s why I pray to God to clear the road before me as I walk. This is important in a world where you cannot know if your thoughts are authentic and from free will.

Also, lots of runners are second/third generation wih a parent or parents that were far more successful as runners than whoever happens to be coach of the local highschool.
