First of all, I have no idea why a moderator deleted this.
Jonathan Gault asked me a similar question today as we were here in Tokyo.
I vehemently believe in free speech. It was wild to me that you got banned from twitter or facebook if you talked about Covid coming from a lab or the Hunter Biden laptop or referred to a biological male as a he. I was personally not allowed to broadcast Ivy League track meets at my alma mater or Cornell where I worked for 10 years simply becuae I wrote an eidotrial sayig gender shouldn't be insports.
And i don't love the right trying to cancel free speech.
But I don't get how people think this Kimmel case is the right cracking down on speech. Fox News lost hundreds of millions in the Dominion voting case. If you report fake news, it can cost you a ton of money. Jimmy Kimmel falsely said the assasin (or implied) was MAGA which is the opposite of the truth.
I'm not sure how this lie would cause Disney to lose hundreds of millions in a lawsuit as what the financial damages (Dominions reputation was hurt and they are a business) but you never know with a jury and the Kimmel show is probably already losing a ton of money for them so they are using this as an excuse to get rid of the show (Wasn't Colbert just cancelled for financial reasons?).
Can you give me other examples of the right cancelling speech?
