If you want scientific arguments on the fairness of athletes with DSD competing in Women's categories, start a thread for that topic. If you choose to bring it up on a thread about a biological male who does not have a DSD winning a woman's race, you can deal with being downvoted.

Yesterday, the University of Maine systems announced they will not to allow males who say they have a trans gender identity to compete in women's intercollegiate sports, which Maine colleges and universities would have to do anyways in order to comply with NCAA and NAIA regulations.

But AFAIK, there's been no change in Maine's policy allowing males to compete in girls' sports in high school and middle school - and Maine's policy allowing boys to compete in girls' HS sports is the main source of the bone(r) of contention between the state of Maine and the Trump administration as well as the personal beef and war of words between Maine Governor Janet Mills and Trump himself.

From what I've read and heard, the Maine Principals' Association, Govenor Mills, most of the rest of Mills' administration, and the Democrats in the Maine state legislature, are still holding fast and firm to their position that under Maine's human rights law, male students in middle school and high school who say they have a trans gender identity have the right to compete in girls' sports.

Under Maine's human rights law and the way Maine officials have interpreted it, males in Maine who say they have a trans gender identity have the right to compete in girls' and women's sports in all other arenas outside of school too. As far as I know, Maine state higher education officials have agreed only to bar males with a trans gender identity from women's college sports, which all colleges and universities in the state would have to do anyways per the rules of the NCAA and NAIA.

they can't decide if it's genes or hormones or the birth certificate. depending what the issue is they move the goalposts where they can't play. it's birth certificate for trans even if they do hormones. it's hormones or genes for intersex.

we don't strictly separate sexes in sports. girls are actually allowed in boys. girl plays baseball at brown. girl played football kicker for vandy. girl plays defense for a d3 football team.

y'all can't even decide if it's the birth certificate, hormone levels, body parts, or genes that should define which is which. this seems to vary depending who we want to exclude.

we then wander into fairness. the argument goes women playing mens are in over their head and fine. however you assume for fairness comparisons that it's best men vs. best women, which is not how trans tends to work. trans athletes tend to be poor boy jocks. and varsity girls can be pretty quick. so the comparisons don't work how you think.

Calling Ada "she" isn't an endorsement of having transgender girls compete in girls sports, it's about having a basic level of respect for talking about someone, especially a *child* who is playing by the rules as they are written, to compete in a sport that all of us here love and participate in.
