So the men’s standard gets harder, while the women’s standard remains the same? Either change both standards or keep both standards the same. If true, this is an absolute idiotic move by USATF.
The old standards were 2:19 and 2:45. Then they went to 2:18 and 2:37, much bigger jump for the women, there were more men at the 2024 trials than women. Now it'll be 2:16 and 2:37, the number of men and women will be about the same now. So no, it's not idiotic. It's trying to have an even number of entries.
2:17 & 2:37 seems fair. Sorry, the women's 2:45 was far too easy, hence the seemingly bigger drop.
I'm a slug 2:28 marathoner, male. I'll never make it with motors on my shoes, but I truly think 2:17 & 2:37 are fair. Someone else mentioned it before me, so i am agreeing with whoever it was

Agreed. Not too slow and not too fast.
The women's pace is 5:59 per mile to qualify. To me that's a good standard
The men's at 2:17 seems about right. You run those times you deserve to have the memories of running in the USA Marathon Trials.
I'm behind on the 8 ball. Has the trials location been chosen yet? I cannot find it
