Lmao, you are all hilarious. How many of you said there was ZERO chance he could ever get the HM WR, and it would be years before we even see it? Now everyone’s throwing around ‘WR’ and ‘Jakob’ in the same sentence.
Jakob with this choice shows his main mental talent. He wants always to win, but doesn't fear to lose, and likes to explore new situations, with the final goal to become the best everywhere. He has an unbelievable self-confidence, due to the continuity in his training, and the total commitment with athletics, that is for him passion, pride and profession at the same time. He has the same mentality of Eddie Merckx and Pogachar in cycling, or of Simon Biles in gymnastic. These athletes are phenomen as person before for their physical talent.
So well said Renato!
This is why I don't get the people that seem to really dislike or hate Jakob. I get that he comes across arrogant at times, and likely is a bit arrogant.
However, he races all the time, loves to compete against the best. He does not shy away from competitions, even if he is not peaking for the event at hand. If you listen to his interviews on Norwegian TV, he gives credit when he gets beat as well.
If all the stars on the T&F circuit had his mentality it would be awesome for us fans.

Now that the goal of people talking about him running a WR for the HM has been achieved, he doesn’t really need to run one at this point.
For those in the U.S., we're looking at a 3 a.m. start tomorrow morning. How are you folks planning on viewing the race? Possible to get a run in early and watch a replay on line without learning of the result?

If Jakob didn't run, no one would wake up, but with Jakob in the race, everyone would set the alarms, like me.

"likes to explore new situations" - i think this is Jakob's main reason for running the HM, similar to how he used the Pre race as a test of his post injury fitness: it's to gather information, not set a WR. Maybe he also got a nice appearance fee and it's a short trip home for him afterwards.
It's the end of the season anyway, everyone's tired and at risk for injury and as Renato said earlier, he's not done HM specific training. I've not seen any statement from Jakob (unlike with the 2 mile and 3k WRs) that he was going for the WR. He knows his limits and training status better than most.
Still, will be fun to watch whether he will run his own race, or hang with Kiplimo as long as possible.

Here’s a quote from the race website:
“I’m Looking forward to test myself in the half marathon, for the first time, in Copenhagen. Normally this is a distance that would suit my training very well, but after a long season on the track working towards the 1500m, it’s exciting to see if I even can reach the finish line,” says Jakob Ingebrigtsen”

That doesn’t like he’s shooting for 57:00.
That’s called under promising so he can over deliver.
Sub-57 is equal to 52.75 laps of 64.8 seconds, which when you phrase it like that seems effortlessly easy for someone like Jakob. Of course the roads is a different story to the track though.

There is a zero percent chance Jakob sets the WR here.

Yes, because that is how Jakob always rolls- modest, coy, humble, and setting expectations very low while under promising. 🙄
