Look at Jakob's face at the 700-750m mark. He's tired and doesn't have the sharpness or hunger in his eyes.
Nuguse was the only dude who didn't look exhausted in the race.
I cannot believe how many huge efforts Ingebrigsten has done in the last 9-12 months. Wow.
Take a nap. Have a burger.
He was injured for most of the winter. So no running training or racing. He basically raced himself into shape and is now (bar illness) peaking. He hasn’t been running and racing for 12 months? Only since May! No winter season, no indoors. Of course he’s fresher.
Now he can normally hold his peak quite well whereas others can’t. I think after the Olympics and the build up (it’s not just about racing it’s all the training that goes in to peak for that one race) many are physically and mentally exhausted and they don’t quite have the motivation he has. They will have been training hard ALL winter.
They all have different goals. Hocker and Kerr clearly went all out to peak at the Olympics. They seem disinterested in really pushing it now.
Jacob has more prove after that 4th place Olympic finish (completely downplayed and forgotten by the fan boys). Hence chasing world records and DL races.
Jacob also says he doesn’t do race effort in training. His races are the only time. His training is different to the others. They will do lots of race pace work. So just because someone isn’t doing a million races doesn’t mean they are not doing intense training and putting in the work and are therefore tired!
Guys on here act like Kerr just shows up to a couple of races and puts his feet up rest of the time!

To your last paragraph:
That's certainly not what I think, but what a lame sport it is when your top performers race once before the Olympics and then after the Olympics either disappear and/or look like they're mailing it in.
If you're too banged up from your training, then maybe you should train a little lighter so you can race more.
Bill Rodgers practically raced more marathons than Kerr races 1500s/miles.
Happy for him since he never seems to get the big win. Hopefully this gives him the confidence he needs. It’s even sweeter since he beat Jakob.
2x Millrose champ in 2023/2024, national champion in the 3k, lots of other notable wins. His resume has plenty of victories considering that he’s been a pro for two years. Look closer at the results

Yep that’s a fair argument. Though Josh did indoors and set the WR at 3k. (His team and coach actually didn’t want him to do that but it was Glasgow and home crowd). He had to train hard to be in that shape over winter.
Then the Prefontaine in May where he beat Jakob. Then the British champs in June(though he was already selected so ran 800m). So he didn’t just race once before the Olympics.
I get many people dislike the guy but I think it’s important to stick to facts.
I agree, as we have seen most years Kerr can’t hold a peak for very long. He knows this and his team know this. So his strategy is to focus on training and then perform well in the races he does do.
You all want him to race more and train less. That might work for Jakob but it’s not want Kerr wants to do or even needs to do. I’m sure he also wants to stay injury free (see Jakob last year, Jake Wightman, Neil Gourlay..).
The fact that Jakob runs sub 3:30 when he has a bad race and someone like Kerr runs 3:31 after prepping for 3 weeks at altitude says it all, and might honestly be the most impressive part about Jakob as a runner
His records in the previous global finals are disappointing, sure, but they're only seen as disappointments because no other active runner has the kind of expectations on him to win every single time he shows up for a race.
How many other currently active runners can claim they've never finished worse than fourth in their senior careers, and always runs solid times, while racing as often as Jakob does? And in his best event, the 5k, he's unbeaten
People like Kerr doesn't even bother to show up for the European championships.

Everyone's goose looked cooked except Nuguse. Great win by him. He looked hungrier and mentally fresher. Been a long year and the Olympics was everyone's goal. You can only get yourself "up" so many times before you need a rest. Right guys?? These four have been amazing this year and I love the competition. Jakob has been most consistent and won the damn 5000 at the Olympics. That 3000 record was the most amazing "feat" in men's distance running this year. Best race? No. that was the Olympics, when Hocker hit his highest peak on the right day. Nuguse has probably been the second best - overall - this year. His fitness level and confidence continue to grow. This is only his second year as a pro, remember. Kerr is Kerr. Love his trash talk but of all of them, I think he will improve the least from now on. Still an amazing racer. Will still be entertaining us for years. He is also the oldest, by a little. Of course the great thing about the message board is you can give instant over-reaction!!!
It's down the drain from here on for Kerr. This was his peak season. He'll be a neat little footnote though from the Jakob era as someone who raced with the legend.

I did stick to the facts.
I'm personally no big fan of indoor track. I mean, sure, it's fun in the winter, but to me it's merely preparatory for the real event, which is summer outdoor track (with DL events being big and Olympics/WC being most important).
So I don't think Kerr races enough "in season," as I see it. I don't consider his 800s (including a fall) as really counting for much as (a) it's not a real event for him and (b) British champs is pretty "minor league."
Why can't he do the Brussels DL race? I really find the whole thing baffling
Given how moribund the 1500 was not too long ago, can't we stop bagging on Kerr or pumping up Jakob or trying to deflate naguse's win and get to appreciating how INTERESTING the 1500 is right now. it is back up to must watch TV when it is on. It gave us a great Oly final that got people even outside of the sport talking, and we get to continue to talk about how different the racing styles, strengths and weaknesses are of Hocker, Jakob, Naguse, Kerr, Wightman (if he ever gets healthy again), Giles, Laros, etc.
