Jakob's definitely a better all around runner. He's just a horrible tactician over 1500m and lacks speed compared to other 1500m runners.
I honestly think that Jakob, still young, has tried a few times and failed to win it with a specific strategy.
I wouldn't call him a horrible tactician.
I think he's still learning how to best deploy his skillset over the distance.
When he figures it out, I think he's unstoppable for a while
It's actually quite simple. Look back at how El G won in the late 90s early 2000s. Ramp up the pace with 600 to 700 to go. Nobody can out run Jakob from 600m out off a fairly quick pace. With 200 to go he is vulnerable

If only there were another runner he could compare himself to... Somebody with superior strength but inferior closing speed.... Hickum Alsmoosh? No that's not right. Well I can't figure it out, and I guess he can't either!
I'm amazed how strongly Kerr fans claim victory at the Olympics when... Kerr didn't win. He has barely raced this year because his entire focus was supposedly on getting gold in Paris, and he failed.
Yeah, Jakob failed too but I think most people admit that. The difference is also Jakob turned around and won the gold medal in the 5000m.
Kerr is a spitting image of that meme where the guy celebrates like crazy on the podium, and then you see that he didn't even win.
Yes he is. Jakob is just a time trial merchant. Without pace-makers he is nothing.
Really? Last I checked Jakob is the 5,000 meter Olympic champion and World Champion. Those were championship style races. He's a better tactician in the 5K than he is at the 1,500, but he did win an Olympic gold in the 1,500 in 2021 last I checked.
Jakob has more championship gold medals than Kerr (and more championship medals)
Jakob has significantly faster PBs than Kerr, in literally every distance event.
Jakob competes significantly more than Kerr.
Jakob has won more European titles than Kerr (like what, eighteen?)
Jakob has more world records/bests than Kerr (I think we can all unanimously agree Jakob would smash the indoor 2 mile, but we can let him have it. Doesn't change the stat.)
Jakob has the overwhelming W on their racing record, 13-3
Jakob holds more European Records than Kerr (like all of them except for that indoor 2 mile)
Jakob is 23, Kerr is 26 (Yes, that doesn't necessarily make him better, but it without a doubt gives him more time for improvement and cement his legacy)
Jakob has shown he is a versatile runner (1500m + 5k, at the very least. We know he can compete at the 10k level currently). Kerr cannot compete for a medal in the 5 or 10k.
Anyone have anything else to add? Is Jakob's wife hotter? Probably?

When was the last time Ingebrigtsen beat Kerr?
Kerr competes once a year, easy to be victorious if you don't put yourself out there
So Kerr was trying to beat Ingebrigtsen in a semi-final or was just content to qualify? It doesn't count. The final does though. Kerr beat Ingebrigtsen again (following Prefontaine) and in yet another championship final.

Nope. It counts. They laced up the spikes and raced.
El G has 6 of the top 10 performances of all time in the 1500m if you take out Kiprop he has 7/10. He is the same age as Jacob is now when he set the WR. El G best 3k was 7:23. El G had others from his country to pace him for most of his championship wins. I don’t see Jacob breaking the field with a push from 600m unless it is fast like low 220s fast.
El G also had free use of EPO at his disposal, and his fellow Moroccans did a good job of rabbiting for him in championships indeed. Jingy doesn't have these privileges afforded to him.
