Odds of Kerr winning the Olympic final just went down. Late start to the year for Jakob and he’s that close, and beating nuguse? Most impressive performance imo
Agreed. Could not have said it better myself. I would argue both deserve compliments for their performances. I am actually surprised by Jakob's mile fitness given his injury history this year.
I thought 3:47.5-3:48 low in a time trial setting would be nice for Jakob right now based on the Achilles issue. 3:45 mid? He will be dangerous come Paris. Unlike previous years, there will be an upward curve for Jakob. People seem to forget that.
He ran 3:43 after worlds last year... Meaning he was on an upward curve. And he still lost to Kerr.
What this race means is that Ingebritsen will need to be in 3:42, if not 3:41 shape to beat Kerr. He's not outkicking him. And Kerr isn't going to lead the Olympics. That means unless Jakob can bribe Yared to lead, Jakob needs to be able to push hard from a long ways out. To do that, he needs to be significantly faster than Kerr. Last year he was in 3:43 shape and still wasn't fit enough. And Kerr has shown he's faster than last year.
Crazy to think Cram's record is gone, but it just shows how good Cram was. He was in an era where the tracks didn't take away, but they didn't give much back. Same with shoes. Imagine how fast Cram/Coe/Ovett would have been with super spikes. Kerr's mile worth about a 3:48 with pre super spike shoes but still a great run. I think everyone is just thinking about Kerr/Ingebrtisen, Nuguse ran 3:43 last year. It's going to be a great Olympics, just wonder if Kerr can maintain form for two plus months as he is more of a pure middle distance runner vs Jakob being an aerobic monster.
what is there about kerr to dislike that you could not say same about JI and worse. If it’s arrogance… have you met JI? If it’s trash talking? JI worse! I don’t get the anti kerr feelings on here
Kerr got lucky again. Beats Jacob the first time when Jacob was sick and wins today when Jacob is coming back from injury. At Paris we will finally see a even playing field.
If josh gets complacent in the slightest, he will not be prepared to take Jakob on in the Olympics. Jakob is in the middle of base phase…but props regardless to Josh. What an amazingly dominant performance from 600 out.
As noted, rust buster for Jakob. Look, the times were impressive, as was Josh’s race, but it’s the Olympics that count, not this race, and I don’t think Jakob was peaking for this race. For a first race of season, I wouldn’t expect a big finishing kick and I’d expect to see some flatness. The outcome in Paris could be the same or very different. But this race doesn’t really prove anything.
This was basically a perfect outcome. Jakob says he likes to win from the front because he wants to show everyone he's better. After WCs, he said Kerr was just the next guy on that day, similar to Wightman the year prior. After being on fire all year, Kerr took it from 600 out to prove that he is just better than Jakob. Jakob didn't even move out to give himself a shot either, not sure what that was about, but maybe he was already defeated mentally idk.
Yeah sure, perfect outcome for Jakob. He's the most delusionally arrogant person I've ever seen. He's a massive narcissist and wants to be seen as a god and better then El G, who was the most obvious drug cheat ever. I mean, no human can be so dominant in one event over such a long period of time as El G was in the 1500.
And I'm supposed to believe that Jakob will easily break El G's 1500, mile, 2k records, and Komens 3000 record, (Komen is the second most obvious drug cheat ever, I mean, 7:20, stop fooling yourself, that's not possible without EPO). All the while believing that Jakob is clean?
And Kerr and Wightman weren't the "next guy" on the day of those world champ 1500 finals, they were the best guy on the day of those finals. It doesn't matter what your PR is, or how many world records you hold or how much you were "abused" by your father, and leading the first 1499 metres of a 1500 doesn't matter either, if you cross the line first, your the winner, and that's all that matters. Not how many double thresholds you have done since you were eight or how many dumb looking tattoos you have.
Where are all the Ingebrigtsen fanboys? Anyone? Anyone? Josh Kerr wins again, and all Jakob has is trash talk and a second place finish.
No No you don't see... jakobu is the greatest... he's mr pacer mile blindfolded viking tv star wunderkinder baby boi jakoboo. Known Chipotle-abuser Sir Squirtle Kerr and Bulbadentist turtle boy have no chance. jakobu will evolve and rise, where Joshua and Ya'll arid will fall.

So Jakob isn't clean because he can beat the records of "obvious drug cheats", but Josh Kerr can beat him while being clean?

Bro called the Bowerman Mile a "rust buster" lmao. The cope is so real. Jakob has a wife. You don't have a shot, bro.
I'm not a Kerr fanboy with all his trash talk but that was impressive. It's Jakob's job to shut him up if he doesn't like what he's saying and he couldn't do it today. Josh is the man, for now at least. I love the 1500/mile.
I told you MFers Josh is on another level walking the talk. His mental game is unmatched at the moment. Jakob will need to do some soul searching.
