Very interested to see how Mr. JI fares in the mile. If he can get to 3:45.XX that will make him the 4th fastest ever. What do we think? I'm going to say 3:46.90.
If paced well/not crazy windy I think he runs 3:45.
Well of course Jakob is peaking this year. You must be stupid to think he will ever run better than in 2023.
You people have said this every year since 2017.
Face it, Jakob is here to stay as a threat to win for at least the next few years. I can understand why people aren't fond of his attitude (I am) but it is such cope to say he's not going to improve or at least continue to succeed. There's no evidence to that effect.
Oh so he will improve every year? Like will he be better in 2030 than he is now? How stupid are you folks?
This is the prediction that makes the most sense to me. I don’t see him running a time equivalent slower than Oslo for his last 1500m of the season. Jakob’s odds of winning the race only increase as the pace gets faster. Look for a 3:44.x here at least. According to WA tables 3:27.9 (Oslo time) is roughly 3:44.5. If he is incredible shape, last race of the season, why not just let an 3:43 WR attempt rip? Obviously Jakob feels that he is super fit, why else would he enter in two events? It sounds crazy, but this is best chance of a men’s mile WR in recent history. I’d love to see Nuguse put up a fight, but another AR would be cool too.
I expect the 3k to be Jakob just going for the win. Girma, Katir, and a fatigued Jakob is still likely sub 7:25 barring scorching temperatures
It's clear to me what he's doing. He's pissed and he's sending a message to Josh Kerr. The 3k has to be run on pure hate. When Komen ran 7:20 in 1996, he was not selected for the Olympics and he ran that 3k on pure hate. Then he kicked Geb's butt in Zurich that year as well.
How special it would be to break Komen's legendary record on US soil.
Moron, if he's going after a WR it's the mile. He will run the 3k to win only. Now if he goes out there and breaks both WRs I hope you fanboys will finally at least consider the possibility that he's doped to the gills.

Ha.... definitely not Coevett!!
Coevett thinks that every top African ever was/is max doped. But then if Jakob set every WR from 800m to Marathon, besting them all, he'd still say - " They are/ were all [dark and] dirty.
But young Jakob....he is as clean and pure as the driven [WHITE] snows of Norway."

Is that what I said? Or are you projected the spectre of the Jakob fanbot onto me? Jakob is in his prime years. Eventually he will stagnate, certainly.
What I am pointing to is the smooth brained insistence after every single performance that it's all downhill from here. If you do that every time, someday, some year you will be correct. Great prediction

Americans in general has a hard time understanding what a difference living in a welfare society makes (and Norway with their oil funds and national budget surplus has the best welfare in the World). Young athletic talents may not start out rich but safe enough to relax pretty much on the economy side, they know they can give it their all to see how good they can be until at least age 25-30 if they want to, then still pick it back up on education and a civil career afterwards. Economically poor American talents on the other side must be pretty good already before college to get themselves an education and then close to Worlds medal capacity when they leave college to even pick up a sponsor contract good enough to make a living one year at a time after that. Norway also has the best and best funded sports science institute in the World - but Americans can take comfort in that it's in the same town as Norways military endurance science institute so via NATO there's some sharing. (Officially there's no co-op between those institutes but Denmark and Finland has the same oops those two in the same town coincidence and I think Sweden probably too).
Jakob has yet to run an extremely fast mile, and even less so in Eugene.
So it will definitely be interesting, I don't have huge expectations though, it's the end of the season he's already peaked a few times since June so...
I think think he can PB, but not by much I expect 3:46 low. And for the 3000m 7:25-27
Jakob has broken a world record less than a week ago. He ran the last mile in 3'47~. Do you really think he wont be able to run more than 1 second faster? Delusional
You’re all idiots if you don’t think that 3k is going down. Literally everyone is in the agreement that he can break 7:20 whenever he wants and if you don’t think that’s possible you’re delusional. There’s no reason why. A Mike the day before is not going to stop this. It might slow him a couple seconds in the 3k, but he doesn’t need to be at 100% to break 7:20, and he won’t be, just like he didn’t need to be at 100% to win worlds, cuz he’s that much better. Is this not clear yet? Not sure about mile. Hope he proves me wrong. But that 3k record is his.
Somebody never raced at a high level.
I didn’t race at a high level, but in college my best ever performance was an indoor 3k that came the afternoon after a 1600 DMR leg. I also expected to have been feeling some effects of the 1600, but ended up running 3 seconds faster than my “stretch” target for the 3k. Not saying that one anecdote is representative of everyone’s or even all my experiences, but sometimes the effect of a hard shorter race the day before isn’t as detrimental as you might expect.

They wont.He could break multiple world records in a day,and they'd still think he's clean, and pure.

Katir and Girma aren't in the race
The start lists weren’t publicized when I made this prediction. Still, Kejelcha hasn’t ran a slow DL 5k this year, and has shown good mid-distance chops in the past. I still expect a sub 7:27 win, but maybe no PR(7:24) for Jakob
Jakob is the opposite of Athing Mu and Sydney McLaughlin-Levrone. He loves to race, loves to compete and never ducks anyone. The sports is so fortunate to have an athlete like him.
As everyone knows I give Jakob a lot of guff because he's so arrogant, but, I'll take him over the whining, non-committal Athing Mu any day of the week. The dude shows up to compete every single time and races a lot. Unlike spoiled brats like Mu and SML, he shows up and shows up often.
