What do you think that does to young non-African kids who find this forum on Google searching for training advice? It would probably be worse if I hadn't stood my ground over these years and presented the counter case, which is being proved correct every passing day, both by the emergence of incredible non-African talents like Laros, and by every new Kenyan doping bust.

It amazes me how CoeOvett doesn't think East Africans have a genetic advantage. Yeah, only in Kenya would it be financially advantage to run a 2:05 marathon. Why don't we have 2;07 marathoners on EPO in Angola or Namibia, Nigeria, Benin/Senegal, Burkina Faso?

So my big 'lie' was the claim that no Kenyan had run below 2:10 before EPO. According to the World Athletics all-time list, three Kenyans had run 2:09 by the end of 1991. Two of those were in 87/88, when EPO had already been synthasized and was being used in cycling, and no doubt athletes with the right connections may have been using it too.
To put it into context (the whole point I was making) since 1992, a further 609 Kenyans have run under 2:10.
At the end of 1991:
Ten Brits had run under 2:10, SIX under 2:09:30
Nine Japanese had run uner 2:10, SEVEN under 2:09:30
Forty-three non-African descent athletes had run under 2:10, Twenty-eight under 2:09:30
THREE Kenyans had run under 2:10, ONE under 2:09:30.
FOURTEEN European descent runners had run under 2:09, and ZERO Kenyans had (according to World Athletics).
And this confirms I am a 'liar'?
