Everything is not booked, their bookings just don't go out that far so it shows as unavailable. I called 4 places and they all said the same thing.

Depending on how many days you plan to attend, it might be worth looking into a hotel in Portland or in a neighboring city and just driving in. It wouldn't be the end of the world and the money you would save renting in Eugene would probably cover the cost of the rental car.
I usually get the nosebleed seats and follow along with a good pair of binoculars.

Seeing AirBnB listings for $450/night (looking for a place for 5 people). Short drive into town it looks like. A place within walking distance is $5000/night. 20 other people want to go in on it?

To add to the mess of the pre-sale today I got 2 responses from Ticketmaster apologizing for its failings but until I switched from laptop (not allowed, no pre-warning of this) to IPad (would take me to last page before purchase and then say unable to process) to then my trying to buy on my smart phone was I successful. They could have sent an email out addressing these issues but failed on this front. I noticed as I searched that available tickets ebbed and flowed as I would see very little then go to another day and then go back to original page that had little inventory and it was full of choices. I ended up with 2 to 4 tickets to all evening sessions as well as morning sessions on days 2 and 3 but I lost 100 minutes of my life and was stressed out in repeatedly trying with no success on IPad until I just tried my phone as a choice.
The seats between 225 and 215 are being held back for sponsors and international TV broadcasting space. Having attended Worlds before I knew to expect this today. Later some of these tickets will be released ala former IAAF dictator and criminal Diack with massive profits to leadership taking the “scalped” price 3-4 times above face value.

Depends where. There are places other than Portland aka Springfield or somewhere somewhat close. Where there is a will there is a way.

I think I got lucky because I have four tickets for four different days. No issues really. I did get booted from the page with some really good tickets so I was kind of bummed about that but my tickets are still pretty great.

I had no trouble getting tickets. I waited until later in the day when everyone else had given up I'm assuming.
As far as housing, there's plenty of "camping" going on in the parks and sidewalks in Eugene. Just sleep with your back to the wall/tree and keep one eye open. Otherwise, you could camp on the beach in Florence. Pretty empty space for the most part.
Marathon in Portland: Great, maybe they can get some Antifa to run the water stations and some homeless addicts to help maintain the porta-potties in the warm-up area.
Either way Governor Brownshirt will find a way to close the whole event down.
