Well hell Steve, you don't know ish about much else but you know your sports. Good list.
If you go back a little further, you can't forget Babe Ruth
https://bleacherreport.com/articles/1063119-babe-ruths-60-home-runs-was-a-greater-achievement-than-barry-bonds-73Ruth, by himself, routinely hit more homeruns each season than many TEAMS.
Do we want to identify who was most athletic? Or who was the best at their sport?
I assumed we meant best looking which is why I nominated Tuohy. She is a hottie.

With all due respect, Americans will typically lack global awareness when answering that question.
First of all if it is a global question, all athletes from sports that are "niche" sports should not be considered. That includes american football, which hardly anyone in the world rather than americans care about. Also baseball is out. Ice hockey is out.
By far, the most popular and most important sport in the world is football, known is the US as "soccer".
And the most influential player ever, who is still alive (80 years old) is Pele. Not only because he was the greatest in the field, the only athlete to ever win three world cups, but because he was a truly global figure. Anyone in the world will know who he is - from Africa to Oceania and including places not historically related to football, the US being one (by the way Pele had a key role on developing the sport in the US). He is also known from stopping a war (very interesting read by the way).
Jordan is a decent answer, arguably the greatest ever in a global sport who had a key influence in modern sport from a marketing perspective.
Comparing Jordan with Pele is like comparing basketball with football. Both are the very best of truly global sports.
But Football is simply bigger and more influential in the vast majority of the world.
Could Pele have been great at other sports? Did he have speed, agility, hand eye coordination, power, strength? Jim Brown did, Thorpe did, perhaps Christiano does.
Whoever said Simone Biles is correct. The distance between her and next best in her sport is far greater than for any of the others mentioned. Maybe Ruth is his day was similarly dominant. She’s doing routines other women likely won’t be able to attempt for decades. In terms of sheer athletic ability, who can compare to her combination of speed, strength and agility? She is off the charts.

Good answer.
I'd have to say my best friend Jim. He set the school record in every single event in our grade school Olympics in 6th grade. Went back there 10 years later and most of his records still stood.
He was shaving in 6th grade.
Jim Thorpe
Personally I'd say someone's only truly at the top of their sport when theyre able to transcend mental stress and competitive nerves. The only people on camera who seem to be this way that I've seen are Alex Honnold and Eliud Kipchoge.
Wilt, no comparison.
Joe Biden.
Did you hear what be did to Corn Pop ? Corn Pop was a bad dude!

Yes, Jackie Robinson. A 25'6 1/2" long jumper in Jr. College. NCAA. long jump champ at UCLA. Football team leading rusher and passer and national punt return leader. Excellent in basketball for UCLA. And, despite reaching the Major Leagues late - at age 28 - because of segregation, he was Rookie of the Year, and later led the NL in batting average and was MVP. And, of course, Hall of Fame.
Closest contender: Jim Brown. Football of course. Led NFL in rushing 8 times in 9 seasons. Only player to average over 100 yards rushing per game for his career. Also one of greatest ever LaCrosse players. In the LaCrosse Hall of Fame. And excellent in basketball, setting the Long Island NY high school scoring average record of 38 points a game. And 5th in NCAA Decathlon while at Syracuse. But... according to one of my friends, who played against him in high school baseball, he couldn't hit the curve. 😀So Robinson gets the edge.
Bo Jackson was average at best at both sports. Never hit over .300 or ran for 1,000 yards in a season.
If all star/ pro bowl was about anything other than popularity he wouldn’t have made either one.
There is no answer to this question...
Weigh little and you have more endurance
Have a lot of muscle mass and your stronger
Have amazing eye hand coordination but can't run
So this question is who was the best jack of all trades but master of none athlete?
Who's the best Spartan racer? LOL
